Text/Mandy

After having a baby, do you suddenly feel that this baby is so happy at any moment? I can't envy you, can I?

For me, this moment is the time to chop up his hand-painted book.

I love books too much. I know that reading from childhood has been rooted in my genes and affected me as a whole. However, I absolutely believe-this is not born.

Up to now, I can still remember the feeling of happiness at any time: when I was a baby, I grabbed the bookshelf of my grandparents' house, picked out the books I wanted to read, sat cross-legged and read with great taste.

People who love books may know this feeling.

We are not afraid to reveal our age. When we were young after 90, most families were frugal. However, my parents never blink when they chop things, just buy books.

When we were young, there was no internet. In our childhood, the book is a big window with a telescope on it, and we can see the far and wide world.

Later, with the reform and opening up, my life rushed to a well-off society and I also had a TV set. But since I was one year old, I have developed the habit of "I don't read for three days, but I feel that tea is not fragrant", and no one needs to worry. I will be obsessed with watching TV instead of reading.

Why is reading not a task for us, but something we like to do? There is no special reason, maybe it's because-I have seen it for a long time.

Just like a newborn gosling, the first thing you see, whether it is a breeder or a teddy bear, feels like a mother, and has established a mysterious connection in the dark.

Let children be exposed to the benefits of books from infancy. Let's put it this way: If a child wants to do something in the future, he must learn it. The basis of learning ability is the habit of reading. Just as cakes are made of eggs and rice porridge is made of rice.

Before you start recommending, say a few more words:

There are two "listing standards" for the children's picture books I shared in Wen Er:

Now, I didn't deliberately tell Mao Mao English picture books. I brought several boxes of Chinese picture books from China and bought some English ones in Maple Leaf Country. When I choose a picture book, in addition to the above two criteria, the idea of "choosing a Chinese/English one" will not flash across my mind.

Living in Vancouver, he is bound to be a born bilingual baby. A good picture book, whether original or translated, will not reduce its charm.

The following list of books was selected by Mao Mao from several boxes of picture books I bought for him.

I originally thought that the baby was so young and had not established any aesthetic and unique preferences, so I shouldn't be picky about picture books. But it's really not. Such a small person will have his own taste.

For example, Liang Ping's "Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face, Face,

If you ask, how do I know he is refusing? It's simple, because I've seen how his favorite picture book blooms, and I've been reading it.

In order to protect his interest in reading, you don't have to force your baby to be interested in any picture book (which you think is good). If he doesn't watch, let him watch. You can take it out later. Maybe the baby will give you a different reaction. After all, a doll's heart is a needle in the sea.

It's been nine months in Mao Mao. Now, the transition from "listening to books" to "turning over books" is slowly taking place, mainly because my teammates and I help him explain picture books and take him to explore interesting institutions in the books.

In fact, teaching picture books by adults at the beginning is very beneficial to the baby's language development. But the prerequisite for this to be sustainable is that adults are willing to talk about it.

Therefore, for me, a top picture book can not only attract the baby, but also resonate in my own aesthetics, so that I have the motivation to tell the baby affectionately, and I won't feel that I am a bit stupid to pretend to be a pig.

After all, bringing a baby is enough to burn your strength and brain. The important thing is that both the old mother and the baby can enjoy it.

In fact, many of the books listed below were prepared before Mao Mao was born, and I have been reading them to him in turn since he was two or three months old. In fact, as long as the baby's vision develops well in a month or two, there is no need to stick to which book to read.

Not much to say, go to the list of books selected by Mao Mao and his mother for you:

1. Mao Mao pique's chewing cloth book.

Happy baby cloth book tail series

I bought two in this series: jungle tail and dinosaur tail. You can do anything else at will.

The reason why I only chose these two books is simple: compared with other books, red, big and green are more attractive to babies of small months, and the animal species are more straightforward, vivid and curious, which is convenient for the old mother to cosplay in person when explaining.

Advantages of cloth books There is nothing to say in this series. Every time Mao Mao chews for a few days, I throw it away and wash it. It will never fade. No matter how the washing machine rolls, it won't move and there is no tendency to get hairy.

The style of painting is actually very sand sculpture. When Grandpa Mao Mao told me about it, he pointed to the zebra and said it was a donkey several times, and pointed to Archaeopteryx and said it was a wild goose.

But this does not prevent Mao Mao from liking it.

Mao Mao teethed early. After more than three months, she developed the following two teeth. I bought a lot of gutta percha, but the crocodile tail in the jungle tail book is my favorite when I play. Massage the gums because there is a lump.

This is what makes me smile: each tail has its own material or pattern characteristics according to the appearance of animals in real life. This can be unfolded for the baby: look, raccoons have round tails, elephants have short and thin tails, and giraffes have a tuft of hair at the end of their tails.

How many words I told Eva out of thin air at once, and how many brain cells he stimulated.

Happy baby book-where is my navel cat book?

This book can be called the traffic champion in cloth books, and it can't be excused. This is my first cloth book to go to Mao Mao.

So, when Mao Mao just grabbed something with his hand, he began to grab the cloth book and chew it. At first, it was just gnawing, but later it became scratching and throwing, but I was not interested in finding the navel of a child in a book.

After eating for a month or two, he began to get into the theme of the book.

I opened the child's clothes to show him his navel, then touched his navel, and he began to giggle. When I bathed him and wiped his body, I covered him with a bath towel, then opened it and said, "Where is your navel?" Here it is! "

From then on, Mao Mao began to indulge in all kinds of hide and seek.

Another advantage of this series of cloth books is that they are portable and integrate books and toys. The place where I took Mao Mao for vaccination is far from home. I tend to take this cloth book with me every time I go. I won't add weight to my bag. I watched it once, played it again, pressed the squeaky place inside, and then shook the squeaky place inside, and basically I arrived.

2. Mao Mao Pique's interactive books for children.

I invented this type of name, mainly to classify Mao Mao's favorite picture books: there are different materials to touch; There are organs that can be opened in the book; And this book itself is a doll that adults can use to interact with their babies.

The biggest advantage of interactive books is that the requirements for parents of picture books are not high: give them to the baby, let the baby stretch out his little finger to dig and turn, and the baby is full of interest. The time to play with them is called a rush.

Chicken ball series-tactile toy book

The author of Chicken Ball has published many series, which are suitable for students who go to primary school for several months according to the number of words. Chicken ball is probably Conan in the baby world. It will never grow up, and it will always be a fluffy little yellow chicken.

This set bought for Mao Mao is the most suitable series for children.

This set of five books is very balanced and has its own characteristics in interaction, which Mao Mao basically likes.

Some can touch animals with different textures, some can play hide-and-seek cave books, some can poke and make sounds, and some can flip through. If you don't want to chop up so many different touch books and hide-and-seek books, this set is actually fun enough.

The style of content painting is also warm and lovely. At first glance, it is the work of Asian painters, and mothers with a girl's heart generally like it.

When Mao Mao was three months old, the favorite of all picture books was Hello, Gigi in this set of books.

Every time I hold his little hand to poke the chicken ball in the stomach and pick up my voice and say "Ji Ji", he will laugh until his little eyes narrow into a crack. Although I don't know whether he likes this book or not, he still likes my strange voice.

But whatever it is, it achieves the purpose of parent-child interaction, doesn't it?

Up to now, although this book has left the C position of his small bookshelf, it is still not often taken out for reading.

The only problem with this set of books is that there is a character in it who is said to be the mother of a chicken ball, but it is obviously like a rooster.

(Mao Mao's father sees this: Please don't care about these details = =)

Rod Chambel's works-Xiaobu's enlightenment series, dear zoo.

If I had to recommend only one interactive picture book writer, I would love Amway Rod Campbell.

His works can really be bought with his eyes closed. Whether it's an interesting but grounded plot, a bright but unobtrusive style of painting, or a three-dimensional and ingenious mechanism, you and your baby really deserve it.

I bought this set of "Xiaobu Growth Enlightenment Series" in China and shipped it all the way to Maple Leaf Country. When I came here to do English picture book raiders, I made a new discovery: Dear Zoo, a classic picture book owned by mothers here, is the masterpiece of Xiaobu's book writer.

From the first time Mao Mao saw the series Xiao Bu, he chose his favorite one: Xiao Bu searched for eggs in various places on the farm and got to know many animals on the farm. He was absorbed in reading the tail from beginning to end and turned back to the page with the cow countless times. He turned over the cowshed over and over again, and looked at the cow suddenly appearing behind him in surprise.

Mao Mao probably likes the feeling of surprise when opening the door, but what I like most about this set of books is probably the values conveyed by the storyline (yes, as a picture book for children, it actually has a storyline).

Xiao Bu is an independent child, and he writes the stories of every book by himself. The world we see, whether at home, farm, zoo or kindergarten, is basically presented from Xiao Bu's own perspective, without evaluation and judgment.

I gradually found that this is probably the temperament of an excellent picture book: let children see the world from a child's perspective in the picture book like him, without stiffly imposing adults' understanding of the world.

Needless to say, this book is excellent, which only makes me feel that I have known you for a long time: some books with opening mechanisms have not been opened yet, so you know what you can dig out with your toes; But the book really opened, and even I was amazed.

Actually, my Christmas present for Mao Mao has been put in the shopping cart, which is the Dear Christmas series by Rod Campbell. Create a little sense of ceremony for the first Christmas in Mao Mao.

I've been looking forward to it since I haven't received it.

TouchThinkLearn series touch books:,,

Just when I thought I had read a lot of picture books, I hardly felt a stir when I saw the new books. Received two classic books of TouchThinkLearn series from friends in Maple Leaf Country: ABC, 123.

Originally, I just opened the disinfection lazily, and when I looked at it, I came to the spirit-with such a big picture book, I was really a frog in the well of the picture book industry.

This picture book is not for children aged 0- 1 year. It says it is suitable for children aged 2-4 years. But I can't help thinking that Mao Mao likes it now, so I hesitate to include it in this list.

It is a book that can "learn" from our traditional ideas. The whole book includes letters, numbers, shapes, colors, lines, understanding all kinds of animals, and even concepts that I think are very abstract and I don't know how to tell my baby, such as feeling, opposition and so on.

The style of this book is a masterpiece of advanced children's graphic poster design. Especially the letter book, I am amazed at every page I turn. I don't know how to describe it, just look at the picture:

Visualize abstract mathematical symbols, letters, colors and other concepts, and add the concave-convex texture of relief to deepen the experience from a variety of sensory ways. Therefore, whenever Mao Mao thoughtfully reaches out her little finger to turn the page, I am crazy about my old mother. She is like a sponge, absorbing knowledge through visual, tactile and auditory channels.

Although he may just be attracted by colorful colors and shapes, he didn't consciously "learn things", but isn't that what the baby is looking at picture books for? What kind of bike do you want?

3. Mao Mao Pique's Young Audio Book

In the category of audio books, the choice is also very wide. If you press a certain place on the book, there will be a matching sound, which blurs the boundary between the picture book and the sound photoelectric toy.

Maybe some educational systems against playing with audio-visual toys are not recommended, but believe me, the baby will still like it very much, so-show it to him occasionally, it is difficult to buy a baby with money.

I put two sets of Mao Mao's favorite books here, but they are not very balanced. In each set, there are several books that Mao Mao likes very much, which are very exciting to read, and some are very indifferent.

Yoyobook, listen, what sound series-musical instruments, farm.

This set of books is also very recommended, and I also follow suit; Every page has different things, sensitive points that can be touched and sounded, and the sound provided is a little too real, because Mao Mao and I were shocked when we heard the elephant crying in the zoo.

Among the six books in the whole set, Mao Mao's two favorite books are Farm and Musical Instruments. For nature and traffic, when he watched and listened, his expression seemed to hear noise. Probably because the rain, snow and wind in nature are too abstract, even if the baby looks at the picture, there will be no concept, and the sound like white noise makes the baby look stupid.

However, Mao Mao enjoyed this instrument: at first, I opened it and played it to him according to the sound; Later, he climbed into the book himself and opened it for me to listen to him; Now it's time to open it yourself and press the touch point to listen. I don't know how many times I've heard it, but my battery is running out.

In the book, small animals are playing different musical instruments, which are easy for babies to understand: drums, xylophones, sand hammers, pianos and so on. As the sound melody is also very rhythmic and interesting, "piano" is actually a very advanced jazz rhythm phrase, and I can't sing piano level 10.

The music of the drum set is also very burning; Once, Mao Mao heard a monkey playing drums, and immediately jumped up excitedly, hoping that he could play drums instead of monkeys. So his teammates immediately bought him a small drum, and from then on, the sound of drum beating at home was endless.

Eric Carr Eric Carr Picture Book-Have you heard of this series?

Who's the parent who hasn't heard of Eric Carr? If you haven't heard of it, you must have: the hungry caterpillar.

Carl's painting style is recognizable and one of the best in the picture book industry; His paintings also sell well, and even Mao Mao has several pieces of his giant intellectual property rights-around the caterpillar.

This set of audio books is very interesting. There are three books, including animals, birds and some classic nursery rhymes painted by grandpa Carl. But there is only one sound generator. When listening, you need to insert a book into the sound generator and make a corresponding set of sounds.

One * * * three books, children's songs that Mao Mao doesn't like very much, without the Maple Leaf Country.

Compared with the series "Listen, What Sound" introduced above, I firmly believe that this set of books is the best in painting. Especially birds and animals, from the first time, Mao Mao devoted himself to studying the image of each animal.

Perhaps this is the strength of Carl's father: animals are animals, not anthropomorphic. He used a very simple brushwork almost like clip art to describe the most distinctive characteristics of animals, and the colors were very advanced and colorful, and the overall style was sunny and lovely.

The sound of this set of books is also very real. When I first showed it to Mao Mao, I heard an owl. Grandpa Mao Mao came out of the next room and asked, "Where are the night owls crying?" ?

Through this set of books, I once again proved a cold knowledge: the baby's favorite sound is high-frequency sound. Because, in this book, every time Mao Mao heard the cock crow loudly, his smiling eyes narrowed into a crack.

4. Mao Mao Peak's storybook

There are many such picture books in Mao Mao, and this one is actually my favorite to tell him, because there are not many other interactive functions like toys, just the most authentic form of picture books: storybooks.

Some of these story books guide the baby to learn some manners and habits through stories; Some use pictures and texts to guide the baby to experience some feelings; Some have no purpose, just a warm story.

Jess Albrecht Jess Apollo-Little Orangutans Series: Hugs.

When I received this book "Hug Hug", I was a little disappointed: the size was too large, and there was a thin coated paper inside the hard cover. As soon as Mao Mao opened the book, he tore a big hole.

After showing it to Mao Mao, I immediately forgot this small flaw.

Such a young picture book, the whole book has only two words: hug, baby. But I seem to have watched a silent film. Although there are no lines, it is a good story with a lot of information and many twists and turns.

So there is a lot of room for old mothers to tell stories.

For the first time, I actually want to say to a picture book for children: I won't read the story, I will take my baby to see it myself. After reading this book, you will find that babies who you think know nothing will actually join in the play and laugh with chimpanzees. Then, just like Mao Mao, he reached out and cried for a hug.

I just like this author's paintings. His painting style is the most delicate (realistic) depicted in the picture book I bought for Mao Mao? ) yes, there are many interesting details when you look closely, but it is not blunt at all. Every animal character is so cute and has personality. The background environment is forest, grassland, etc. This also conveys the beauty in reality.

Show this picture book to Eva, which makes me confident that he can form a good aesthetic view in the future and will not suddenly become a killer when he grows up.

Other works by the author are also highly recommended: in addition to this one, Hug Hug, Play Together, featuring the little chimpanzee, has also been introduced into Chinese. There is also a set of "Eddie and the Bear" featuring bears, which is also a picture book popular with young children.

Really, buy it.

Caroline Jayne Church's Love Night Story Series-I love you to the end

This book may be more important to me than Mao Mao.

Let me have an exit, which can overcome my little embarrassment as China's parents and say "love you" to Eva directly. But also a very emotional, multi-faceted and multi-angle confession.

This whole series, in North America, is also a set of picture books for almost every mother. Every book tells the baby "how much I love you" in various ways: from your hair to your little toe, you love to be happy and you love to cry.

This straightforward expression may seem normal to them. But this is exactly what I need to practice more. I will force myself to say the word "love" to Mao Mao in Chinese instead of hiding under the protective color of English to avoid embarrassment.

As I speak, I will do exaggerated actions from the perspective of the book: upper side (looking at Mao Mao from above), lower side (looking at him from below), hair (kissing my hair), toes (kissing my toes), happy (putting on a happy expression), sad (sad expression, usually Mao Mao will touch me at this time).

Every time he takes out this book, Mao Mao looks forward to it, because he knows that when it appears, he will get a lot of kisses and hugs, and he can interact with his mother. Although he should not understand what I am saying, how can a baby not like the language of love?

Several books in this set are very suitable for bedtime story books, which can fully kiss and hold the baby high and relieve the anxiety of separation before going to bed.

I wanted to write a short and concise book list, thinking that it might give some inspiration to the new mother. Unexpectedly, I wrote more and more.

Because these picture books really bring us too much fun.

Mao Mao began to read black and white cards and cloth books with color images from birth. Two or three months later, I sat in my arms and began to read cardboard books; From 6 months old, I gradually transitioned to selecting books, turning over books and studying organs in books.

When I first introduced the picture book, I didn't really care whether he understood it or how long he could concentrate. What is important is that he thinks that reading is as natural as breastfeeding, and his feelings about reading are bound to be linked with the companionship and warmth of his family.

Today's babies are really happy, because these excellent picture books have enabled them to establish a lifelong relationship with books from birth. Also because of books, they can see a bigger world.
