However, Geely recently redesigned Cargill and launched an upgraded Cargill L. It is not difficult to see from the name that the most obvious change of Cargill L is lengthening, and the ultimate goal of lengthening is to obtain better internal space. In addition, Cargill L has also made adjustments in design, power and intelligence. Then, after learning from each other's strengths, does Cargill L become the ideal choice for home MPV? Let's explore together.
The appearance is young, and the proportion is not out of balance because of lengthening. According to official data, the body length of Cargill L has increased by 1.20mm compared with the old model. Since 2805mm has not changed, all the increase in length is concentrated in the luggage compartment. Therefore, from the side of Cargill L, it is not difficult to see that the distance between the C column and the D column has obviously increased, but this local size change has not destroyed the coordination of the overall side ratio. On the contrary, the more slender body brings a little sense of movement to Cargill L.
In addition to the change in size, the side has also adopted a new shape of the rim, the style has not changed much, plus the size is exactly the same as the old one, there is nothing to say.
However, the changes in the front face and tail are still worth saying a few more words. In the case that the headlight shape has hardly changed, Cargill L has adopted a brand-new air intake grille and bumper. Although it is split in two by the penetrating chrome trim strip, it is obvious that the headlights, air intake grille and lower grille form an X-shape. Coupled with the black mesh, the small front lip decorated with chrome trim, and the huge and sharp auxiliary air intake holes on both sides, the sports atmosphere of the whole front suddenly improved. Compared with the old front face, Jia Jia is slightly stable.
In order to echo the front face, the tail of Cargill L has also been slightly changed. The shape of the taillights is more irregular. The original large-area chrome-plated decoration in the middle is replaced by a penetrating light belt, which is better after lighting at night. Two decorative holes are added on both sides of the rear bumper. Although the decorative effect is greater than the ventilation effect, the exhaust effect on the left and right sides created by the penetrating chrome-plated decorative strip below also adds a lot of movement to the tail.
The interior has not changed much, and the details enhance the driving experience. At first glance, Cargill L's interior design has not changed significantly compared with the old model, but it is not difficult to find every detail carefully, and it is still different.
The first is the steering wheel. After slimming, Cargill L's steering wheel is obviously not as bloated as the old one, which reduces the vulgarity of large-area chrome trim, and the two-color leather package brings a more exquisite feeling.
10.25 inch large-size full LCD instrument can be installed through the steering wheel. Compared with the old 7-inch display screen, the display effect is more delicate, the display information is richer, and there is more interaction with the central control screen. The size of the central control panel has not changed, and it is still a 12.3 inch fish screen. However, the built-in in-vehicle system has been upgraded from the previous GKUI Jike intelligent ecosystem to the Geely Galaxy OS system. The new system not only retains the basic functions such as car networking, road information navigation and voice recognition control, but also adds new functions such as emergency rescue call, HiCar mobile phone interconnection and APP remote control.
Looking down from the center console, the gear area of Cargill L has also been redesigned, and many redundant designs have been cancelled. The gear lever is placed on the side close to the driver, and a cup holder with a sliding cover is designed on the other side, which looks much fresher. In the new storage compartment in front, the top model we test-drive is also equipped with wireless charging function, which improves convenience.
Of course, as an extended model, the core change inside Cargill L is space. Although the wheelbase has not changed, for a three-row six-seat MPV model, the increase of the length of 120mm will obviously improve the longitudinal space inside the car, especially the space of the third leg and luggage compartment. Then, according to the author's measured height 180cm, adjust the second row seat to the position where there is about one punch in the leg space (editor's note: Cargill L's second row seat has a very large adjustment range before and after, and in the end, the author's leg space reaches more than two punches, which is very spacious), and then sit in the third row, and the leg space can also reach the level of three fingers. Compared with Lao Jiaji, the riding experience has been improved to a certain extent.
However, one thing to spit out is that the problem that the seat cushion in the third row is too short seems to have not been solved, so the comfort will be reduced because of the lack of support in the thighs during long-distance riding.
1.8T for 1.5T, the driving experience is not reduced, and the fuel consumption is obviously reduced. In addition to the above changes, the biggest change of Cargill L is the adjustment of power system. The old 1.8T engine was completely replaced by the new 1.5T engine. Although the displacement is reduced by 300mL, the maximum power and torque of 1.5T are 133kW and 135kW and 300n·m respectively. Another performance of high efficiency is fuel consumption. Because the 7-speed wet power shift matched by the two engines has not changed, the fuel consumption of the two engines is comparable. According to official data, the comprehensive fuel consumption of NEDC of Old Cargill is 7.5L/ 100km, while the comprehensive fuel consumption of WLTC of Cargill L is only 6.9L/ 100km. Theoretically, the improvement effect of fuel economy is still obvious.
Because there is no obvious change in the data, Cargill L is still relatively light to drive, and its dynamic response to the throttle is very positive in the initial stage. It can also continuously output power at medium and low speeds, and occasionally overtaking and merging on urban roads can also make people step on the accelerator more practically. If you need stronger power output, you can also adjust the driving mode for exercise. Although there is no obvious performance improvement, higher shift speed can further squeeze the engine power. In addition, when it comes to driving mode, Cargill L adds intelligent mode on the basis of economy, comfort and sports, which means it can actively learn the driver's driving habits and output driving modes that adapt to this driving habit. Perhaps the test drive time is too short, but the author has not experienced the benefits brought by this model.
On the chassis adjustment, Cargill L also showed a compromise on comfort. Whether it is steering or suspension, even female car owners have shown strong friendliness, especially suspension, which filters out the subtle vibrations from the road thoroughly, as long as it is not ups and downs, it is still very comfortable.
Although this upgrade has not brought subversive changes to Geely Cargill L, and there are even some areas that need to be improved urgently, it is undeniable that after this series of operations, many aspects of it have become outstanding in the same level, and these improvements even make users spend a little money to do big things.
