At the age of 24, he was taught by Brahma Buddhism and practiced in the temple next to Shuangyan Tree in Huangyun. Liang Datong built Shuanglin Temple in six years.
There were 1200 monasteries in the Northern Song Dynasty, and the scale of Liang's creation should be even larger. Ningzong in the Southern Song Dynasty designated Shuanglin Temple as one of the five temples of Zen.
Peidetang construction
Speaking of the construction of Peide Hall, it has a history. In the 12th year of Daoguang reign, Lin Zexu was appointed as the governor of Jiangsu by the imperial court. Three years later, there were four plagues in Suzhou, and the sick people vomited and diarrhea, which was unbearable. The government is anxious to control the spread of the plague. At this time, Wang Hengkui, a Tian Xin native of Yiwu Buddhist Temple, is opening a Shenke ham shop in Suzhou.
This Wang Hengkui not only does business, but also knows some medical skills. He learned in Compendium of Materia Medica that ham and trotters can cure diarrhea. After returning to the office, he immediately ordered people to cut off all the ham and trotters, cook soup with meat, grind the bones and distribute them to patients. Whoever ate it greatly alleviated the illness and finally controlled the spread of the plague.
Lin Zexu was deeply moved by Wang Hengkui's righteous act of helping others after learning about this incident, so he wrote a plaque for Peide Hall and presented it to Wang Hengkui. Wang Hengkui hung the gift plaque in the firm, which increased the value of Wang Hengkui's ham and sold it out in a few days. Wang Hengkui made a fortune from this.
Later, Wang Hengkui returned to Tian Xin and built a new hall named Peide Hall as a memorial. The plaque of Peidetang, which was built in the light-year period of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of over 170 years, is kept in the new building of Tian Xin Sicun.
