Scientific health, health and happiness.

Coix seed has a low consumption in China, but enjoys a high reputation abroad. Known as the "king of gramineous plants in the world", Europeans call it "healthy food".

Coix seed can also be eaten and used medicinally. Chinese medicine believes that coix seed is sweet in taste and slightly cold in nature, and has the functions of strengthening the spleen, clearing away heat and tonifying the lungs. It is a very suitable food for summer.

Li Shizhen, a great doctor in Ming Dynasty, said in Compendium of Materia Medica that it has the effects of "strengthening the spleen and regulating the stomach, tonifying the lung and clearing heat, expelling wind and removing dampness, strengthening the body and prolonging life". Traditional Chinese medicine often uses it to treat damp arthralgia, tendon contracture, unfavorable flexion and extension, edema, beriberi, lung carbuncle, intestinal carbuncle, diarrhea, stranguria and leucorrhea.

Modern research has found that coix seed has the following health care functions:

be anticancer

Because it contains coix seed fat, it can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells, and it is most commonly used in the adjuvant treatment of gastric cancer and cervical cancer abroad. In Japan, it has been included in the list of anti-cancer foods.

Diuretic detumescence

It can enhance renal function, so patients with edema can eat it and improve symptoms.

Moisturizing beauty sunscreen

Eating coix seed often can reduce wrinkles, smooth and tender skin, eliminate acne, prevent hair loss and white hair, and also prevent sun exposure and eliminate facial spots. Studies have found that the extract of Coix lachryma-jobi seed can absorb ultraviolet rays and dilute the precipitation of melanin, so some people use it as a raw material for making sunscreen.

Anti obesity

Eating barley regularly can make your body lighter and not fatter. Because the nutritional components of coix seed are relatively complete, and the dietary fiber is more than rice and white flour, it is very suitable for fat people to eat when losing weight.

How to eat barley?

Coix seed, as a kind of grain, is not suitable for dry rice because of its thick skin. To cook porridge with it, it is generally necessary to soak rice in clear water for 6-8 hours first, otherwise it will not be easy to cook until it is soft and rotten.

It is advisable to add enough water at a time to cook porridge with barley. Also be careful not to put alkali.

Coix seed is good, but it is not suitable to eat more. The consumption of adults is generally 50 ~100g a day.

Old people, children, people with stomach trouble and stomach discomfort should reduce the amount as appropriate.

Constipated people and early pregnant women should not eat barley.

Introduce two ways to eat

1. Soak in water with 100g coix seed, 50g mung bean and 100g rice to cook porridge. After the porridge is ready, you can add a little salt to taste it. This porridge has the effect of clearing away heat and toxic materials, and can prevent heatstroke. It is especially suitable for sweating in hot weather.

2. Stir-fry Coicis Semen in a wok until cooked, and grind it into powder. Take 25-50g daily, repeatedly brew with boiling water, eat with rice and drink with water. Long-term persistence is beneficial to eliminating dampness, reducing blood fat, beautifying and sun protection.
