What does the calligraphy by the lake mean?
Describe a mountain higher than a mountain, there are good ones, but there are better ones.

This sentence comes from Lin Sheng's titled "Lin 'an House" in the Song Dynasty, and the original text is as follows:

Name of Lin 'an Building

Song Lin Sheng

Outside the castle peak building outside the mountain,

When will the singing and dancing in the West Lake stop?

Warm wind intoxicated tourists,

Make Hangzhou Bianzhou!

Translation:

When will the singing and dancing in the West Lake stop? The lewd fragrance intoxicated the pleasure-seeking aristocrats, and it was simply that peaceful Hangzhou was regarded as the old Bianjing!

Creative background:

Song Gaozong returned to Hangzhou for the second time. He took a fancy to this "paradise on earth" in the southeast, and he was determined to achieve the ultimate goal. So he went from emperors to literati and businessmen, overhauling pavilions and getting humiliation. It is a whim to build the Ming Hall, repair the ancestral temple and observe the palace architecture. Such prominent officials and wealthy businessmen as Dajia have also managed the mansion one after another and expanded this "Imperial House". He indulged in singing and dancing, indulged in the decadent life of luxury and erosion, and got the name of "selling gold pots" in the West Lake. For decades, Hangzhou, which was safe for the time being, was regarded as Bianzhou in the Northern Song Dynasty (now Kaifeng, Henan Province) and became a comfortable nest for these parasites. Some patriots are outraged by this and accuse the rulers of ignoring the national economy and people's livelihood and being trampled upon by others.

Appreciate:

This is a poem written on the wall of a hotel in Lin 'an City, which not only expresses grief through the description of music scenes, but also multiplies emotions, and contains profound implications in a profound aesthetic realm. At the same time, the poet exposed the reactionary nature of "vagrants" in ironic language, and also showed the poet's anger.
