Enter the "WINDOWS\system32\dllcache" directory (hidden directory by default), which stores about 360MB files, which are backups of Windows XP system files. When the system files of Windows XP are replaced, deleted or modified, the system can automatically extract the corresponding system files for recovery, thus ensuring the stability of the system. If you have a Windows XP installation CD or have copied the installation files to your hard disk, you can delete the folder. Note: This folder cannot be deleted directly. You should enter the command "sfc.exe/Purge Cache" at the command prompt to clear it. 2. Delete the driver backup
Windows XP comes with a large number of hardware drivers. When new hardware is detected, the system will automatically extract the corresponding driver for installation. In fact, in most cases, we rarely change our hardware configuration, so we can delete the driver backup file when we are sure that all the required hardware drivers have been installed. Enter the "WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386" directory, find the compressed file named "Driver.cab" and delete it. This will free up about 73MB of hard disk space. If the system can't find the driver when installing new hardware in the future, it can be extracted from the installation CD. 3. Delete the unused input method
There are several input methods that we don't need at all under Windows XP, such as Japanese and Korean input methods. The method of deletion is: enter the control panel → date, time, language and regional settings → regional and language options, select the language tab, remove the check mark in front of "files with East Asian languages installed", click OK, and then delete the unnecessary language options according to the prompts. After restarting, directly delete the three folders "chtime", "imjp8_ 1" and "imkr6_ 1" under the "WINDOWS\ime" folder (corresponding to traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean respectively). This will free up about 85MB of hard disk space. 4. Empty the system temporary files
In the directory "\ documents and settings \ user name \ local settings \ temp" (hidden directory by default), temporary folders and discarded documents left during software installation or operation are stored, and the directory can be emptied. If you do this for the first time, it is possible to free up hundreds of MB of hard disk space. Note: This trick can be used frequently.
