Guide to Sleeping Position for Pregnant Women: Choose Different Sleeping Positions at Different Stages
During pregnancy, the sleeping position of pregnant women is very important for the growth and development of the fetus. Choose different sleeping positions at different stages to ensure the healthy development of the fetus.

Early pregnancy: supine or lateral position.

In the early pregnancy (1-3 months), the fetus is still developing in the pelvic cavity, and the external pressure is relatively small. Pregnant women can choose a comfortable sleeping position, such as supine position or lateral position. However, bad habits, such as sleeping on your stomach or holding things, should be avoided.

Second trimester pregnancy: lateral position

In the second trimester of pregnancy (4-7 months), in order to protect the abdomen and avoid the direct effect of external force, pregnant women should choose the lateral position. If pregnant women have polyhydramnios or are pregnant with twins, it is recommended to adopt supine position and raise their lower limbs.

Late pregnancy: left lateral position

The third trimester of pregnancy (8- 10 months) is a critical period. The lying position of pregnant women not only affects their own safety, but also plays an important role in the growth and development of the fetus. At this time, the left lateral position is the best choice, because it can correct the right rotation of uterus, reduce the pressure of abdominal aorta, improve blood circulation and increase the blood supply of fetus. However, supine position will compress the inferior vena cava, leading to hypotension, dizziness, palpitation, nausea and other symptoms, which should be avoided.
