Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, alias Mengbalanasi, is a minority autonomous prefecture under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province. "Xishuang" means "12" in Dai language, and "Xishuangbanna" is the "twelve administrative regions" to experience Dai flavor. The annual Water Splashing Festival is held in April 13- 15, which is known as the "Oriental Carnival". Xishuangbanna has the only tropical rain forest nature reserve in China, and there are many rare birds and animals, such as Asian elephants, hornbills, black-crowned gibbons, looking up to heaven trees, mangroves and Yunnan nutmeg.

Heshun Ancient Town is located 4 kilometers west of Tengchong County. It is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Yunnan Province, an important town of the ancient tea-horse road, and the only place where the Southwest Silk Road passes. The ancient town building is built on the mountain. Ancestral temples, memorial archways and ancient houses in Ming and Qing dynasties are all over the ancient town. The acting prime minister of the Republic of China has a poem praising Shun, which is definitely better than Xiao Suhang. Tengchong has three treasures: Tengxuan, Tengyao and Tengbian. In Heshun Library, you can see craftsmen making rice paper by indigenous methods. You can buy some back if you are interested.
