The origin and further development of acupuncture has gone through a long period of time. In ancient times, people learned to grind and use fine stone tools. These stone tools were not only the main production tools at that time, but also important medical instruments.
In the process of fighting against diseases, people first use needles to puncture abscesses, and then use them to treat other diseases. With the continuous accumulation of experience, bian stone therapy appeared.
Therefore, Shan Hai Jing said: "The high mountain is full of jade, and there are many gems under the mountain."
"Shuo Wen Jie Zi" notes: "Edge, stab disease with stone."
The Duolun Tongtoudao depression stone in Inner Mongolia unearthed from the Neolithic site is 4.5 cm long, with a triangular front at one end, an arc blade at the other end and four needles, which is similar to the stone of two cities and one mountain in Weishan County, Shandong Province.
Later, due to the development of smelting technology, bronze needles of the same strain appeared.
A number of Han Dynasty stone reliefs unearthed in recent years show the original ancient acupuncture practice map of half man and half bird, symbolizing the vivid image of acupuncture treatment in the primitive clan with birds as totem, which coincides with the ancient legend of "Fuxi treating human diseases".
Therefore, as the earliest acupuncture tool, Bian Shi originated from the primitive clan society of the Neolithic Age in China, which is beyond doubt and universally acknowledged.
With the progress of society, stone needles and bronze needles have developed into the "nine ancient needles" of iron (Neijing), and in the Western Han Dynasty, gold needles and silver needles have appeared, until modern stainless steel needles, three-shuttle needles, fire needles, lifting needles, round needles and so on, and even various emerging acupuncture instruments.
Then talk about moxibustion, mainly the historical facts of moxibustion and moxibustion treatment. As early as the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, there were clear written records. For example, "Mencius" has "seven years of illness, seeking three years of love", and "Historical Records" has "moxibustion on the hills without illness". Therefore, the history of moxibustion therapy is obviously much longer than that in the Spring and Autumn Period, and it can even be traced back to the later period of clan commune system. Because the bones that appeared at that time all had the habit of using moxa as fuel, this seems to have a lot to do with the discovery of moxibustion. With the evolution of history, moxibustion has also developed from early Yagi moxibustion and direct stove moxibustion to stove moxibustion, Taiyi Shenzhen, Leihuoshen acupuncture and modern electric moxibustion and laser acupuncture.
