Judging from the generation of gif pictures, it is nothing more than a kind of self-produced and self-sold, using PS, AE, Flash, PPT and other software. The second is to cut clips from existing videos to make GIFs, which is also a common method to cut expression packs from popular TV dramas. We will introduce them one by one.
When the video is converted into gif, the first step of optimization is of course to leave only useful fragments, that is, editing. For the selection of video clips, we can complete it in editing software such as Premiere, and then directly export the gif animation format, and then optimize the gif animation in ps; You can also edit video clips directly in ps. There are two common methods to import videos into PS:
0 1. Drag the video directly to PS, and then move the In point and the Out point on the timeline panel to select the required clip, as shown in the figure below. Of course, you can also combine the current time indicator (that is, the red vertical line in the timeline panel) and directly use the scissors tool to cut the video and delete the unnecessary parts.
02. select "file >; Import > video frame to layer ",and then in the open panel, as shown in the figure below, the In point and the Out point are also selected, and the selected video clip is shot. PS: If the video is too long, you can also limit the number of frames, which is also an effective way to reduce the size, but don't set the number too large to avoid incoherent action.
Since it is to optimize the volume, obviously reducing the image size is a very direct and effective method. Moreover, considering that many platforms also have restrictions on the size of gif display, for example, the longest width cannot be greater than a fixed size, otherwise the animation cannot be displayed directly. Therefore, there are two ways to modify the size. One is to select "image >: image size" directly, and the shortcut key is CTRL+ALT+I. You can open the modification panel as shown in the figure below and enter the required size.
To reduce the length and width of an image, in addition to using the image size command, you can also modify the size on the save interface, that is, the "Save as web Format …" panel. The shortcut key is Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S, but if the video resolution is relatively large, such as 1080p, it will take a long time to load the card when opening this panel, so it is suggested to use "image size" to modify it first.
In the category of video to gif, after we open the video in PS (this method is aimed at opening it in the form of frame animation), the motion changes between some frames are extremely insignificant, and even some frames are exactly the same. At this time, we can delete the repeated frames and keep only one frame, and keep the rhythm of the animation by increasing the delay time of the frames, instead of keeping the rhythm with the number of frames. Because each frame occupies the size of gif animation, the fewer frames, the smaller the natural volume, and the rhythm can be set without destruction.
When the length, width and size of the picture can no longer be changed, it is a good method to directly modify the number of colors to reduce the size of gif. This operation is still performed in the "Save as Web Format …" panel. As shown below, a drop-down menu will pop up after clicking the small triangle, and there are multiple numbers to choose from. Gif format supports 8-bit colors, so the maximum limit is 256 colors. For the gif animation whose color is not too bright, if you can't introduce it, you can add some. In addition to the preset values, you can also manually enter the number of colors you want.
This function can be used with the Color value. As shown in the figure below, you can see a variety of algorithms after clicking on the small triangle.
Adobe officials explain the meaning of these algorithms as follows. In most cases, we can meet our needs by choosing the default "optional". In the special cases mentioned below, we can choose the corresponding algorithm.
0 1. Perceptible: Create a custom color table by giving priority to colors sensitive to human eyes.
02. Optional: Create a color table, which is similar to the "perceptible" color table, but it is beneficial to the preservation of a wide range of color areas and Web colors. This color table usually generates images with maximum color integrity. Optional is the default option.
03. Sample tracking: Create a custom color table by extracting color samples from the main chromatogram of the image. For example, an image containing only green and blue produces a color table mainly composed of green and blue. The color of most images is concentrated in a specific area of the color spectrum.
04. Web: Use the standard 2 16 color table commonly used in the 8-bit (256-color) color palette of Windows and MAC OS. This option ensures that when images are displayed in 8-bit colors, browser aliasing is not applied to these colors. (This palette is also called the Web security palette. ) Using the Web palette may create a large file, so this option is only recommended if avoiding browser shadows is a priority.
05. Customize: Use the color palette created or modified by the user. If you open an existing GIF or PNG-8 file, it will have a custom color palette.
Because of the limitation of gif format, only 8 colors are supported at most, and only 256 colors are supported at most, which is still too few. So the "Save as web Format …" panel provides the function of "imitating colors", which is simply to realize a more vivid color scheme through imitation. Official interpretation refers to the method of simulating colors that are not provided in the computer color display system. A higher color imitation percentage will make more colors and details appear in the image, but it will also increase the file size. To get the best compression ratio, use an imitation color that can provide the lowest percentage of the required color details. If the colors contained in the image are mainly solid colors, they can usually be displayed normally without applying imitation colors. Images containing continuous tones (especially color gradients) may need color imitation to prevent banding.
As shown in the figure below, there are three methods of color imitation:
0 1. Diffusion: Use random patterns that are usually less obvious than "patterns". The color imitation effect spreads between adjacent pixels.
02. Pattern: Use a square pattern similar to halftone to simulate any color that is not in the color table.
03. Miscellaneous color: A random pattern similar to the "diffusion" color imitation method is applied, but the pattern does not diffuse between adjacent pixels. When using the "variegated" color imitation method, no seams will appear.
This function is used to determine how to optimize transparent pixels in an image. In most cases, you can use the default settings. If further settings are required, please refer to the following official documents for instructions:
0 1. To make fully transparent pixels transparent and mix partially transparent pixels with a certain color, select Transparency, and then select a matte color.
02. To fill completely transparent pixels with one color and mix partially transparent pixels with the same color, select a matte color and deselect Transparency.
03. To select a mask color, click the mask swatch, and then select a color in the color picker. Alternatively, choose an option from the edge menu: pipette color (using the color in the pipette sample box), foreground color, background color, white, black or other (using the color picker).
When the transparency option is selected for transparent imitation color, as shown in the following figure: You can choose the method of applying imitation color to partially transparent pixels:
0 1. Opaque imitation does not apply the imitation color to the partially transparent pixels in the image.
02. The random pattern applied by "diffuse transparent imitation color" is usually not as obvious as "pattern imitation color". The color imitation effect spreads between adjacent pixels. If this algorithm is selected, specify the Apochromatic percentage to control the amount of Apochromatic applied to the image.
03. "Pattern Transparent Imitation Color" applies a block pattern similar to halftone to partially transparent pixels.
04. "Miscellaneous transparent imitation color" applies a random pattern similar to the "diffusion" algorithm, but does not diffuse the pattern between adjacent pixels. When using the noise algorithm, there will be no seams.
In the "Save in web Format …" panel, before &; After's contrast view mode is convenient for us to check and get the best results. The operation is shown in the following figure:
It can be seen that when we change the color to "64 kinds", the contrast between the original image and the original image is optimized.
This move is definitely the ultimate move. Like the above, we all need to manually adjust the parameters, compare the effects, and modify them repeatedly to achieve the best results. And this trick, PS will automatically help us balance the parameters, and then calculate the optimal result within the maximum volume we set. The operation method is also very simple. As shown in the figure below, just click the context menu in the upper right corner of the Save As web Format … panel, and then click Optimize File Size to enter our volume requirements in the pop-up panel.
Well, this is a method that Sui Jun learned about the optimization of gif animation, or the method of compressing the size, which is often used. I hope it will be helpful to friends who like to make gif pictures and dynamic expression packs.
