Ruan, an early movie star in China, was originally named Ruan Fenggen, and his scientific name was Ruan. Born in Zhongshan County, Guangdong Province, 19 10 was born in Shanghai. Because the worker's father died young, he worked as a domestic servant with his mother when he was a child. Mother scrimped and saved, and let her go to school to attend Chongde Girls' Middle School in Shanghai. 1926, in order to support his mother by his own efforts, he was admitted to Shanghai Star Film Company and starred in his debut film "Nominal Couple", from which he entered the film industry.
Since then, he has appeared in nearly 20 films in "Star" and "Greater China Lily" companies, playing a girl who has suffered many misfortunes in love and marriage or a charming and provocative romantic woman. 1930, she entered Lianhua Film Company, starring in the company's pioneering work "Dream of Spring in the Old Capital", and successfully played the prostitute Yan Yan, which established her position in the film industry.
Since then, she has starred in a series of films, such as Weeds and Flowers, Modern Three Girls, Gadgets, Night in the City, Life, Coming Back, Farewell to Shanghai, Xiangxue, Goddess, New Woman and National Style.
In these images, there are women workers, village women, teachers, dancers, prostitutes, artists, writers and so on. Most characters have tragic life experiences, bumpy experiences and repeated hardships. Although they all ended in suicide, becoming a monk, imprisonment and tragic death, they all maintained their kind and upright nature and pure and beautiful hearts. Among them, Goddess is the most representative work. With her superb acting skills, she miraculously combined a noble mother with a humble prostitute, which was superb and shocking.
Ruan is dignified and generous, beautiful and refined. She is conscientious and devoted all her enthusiasm and unremitting pursuit to the performing arts. In the performance, she can accurately understand the emotions of the characters, capture the feelings of the characters, and accurately show them with appropriate eyes, expressions and movements. This precise inner induction combined with physical expression is very natural, which shows her outstanding talent and extraordinary skill.
Wu Yonggang, the director of Goddess, used the metaphor of "the fastest sensitive film" to give her a high evaluation. In 1930s in China, she became an actress that the director was willing to cooperate with because of the least number of remakes. In order to make the audience "see every movie" and become the actor with the most box office appeal.
Her performance was brilliant and radiant, reaching the highest level of performance art in China's silent film period and winning the heartfelt admiration of the audience.
However, this outstanding actress's married life is very unfortunate. 1935, the feudal evil forces used the marriage lawsuit about her to make a big fuss, spread rumors and slander, and poured buckets of dirty water on her. She couldn't bear to be humiliated, leaving "terrible words" and committing suicide by taking medicine at the age of 25.

Ruan's suicide note:
I don't know my career until I die. Now that I'm dead, I can do whatever he wants at any time. Although you don't kill Boren, Boren will be killed by you. Zhang Damin, I don't see how you can escape public opinion. Now you can't falsely accuse Tang Jishan, because you killed me! When I die now, people will think that I am afraid of sin. What am I afraid of? Because I have nothing to do with Zhang Damin who doesn't live there, let's call it a day. When I lived separately from him, I gave him 100 yuan every month. This is not empty talk, but there are credentials and receipts. However, he bites the hand that feeds him with injustice, and what is even more unknown to the outside world is that he thinks I can't live with him. Alas! What can I do? I thought and thought, but I died. Alas! I'm embarrassed to die, but I'm still afraid of people saying that what they say is terrible.
