Master first aid! ! What does it mean that the computer shows that virtual memory is small?
The computer prompts that there is not enough virtual memory.

1, infected with the virus!

Some viruses will occupy a lot of memory space when attacking, resulting in the problem of insufficient system memory. Go anti-virus, upgrade the virus database, and then take anti-virus measures!

2. The virtual memory setting is incorrect.

Improper setting of virtual memory may also lead to insufficient memory. Generally speaking, the size of virtual memory is only twice the size of physical memory. If the setting is too small, it will affect the normal operation of the system program. Resize the virtual memory. Take WinXP as an example. Right-click my computer, select Properties, and then in the Advanced tab, click the Settings button in the performance box, switch to the Advanced tab, click the Change button in the virtual memory box, and then reset the virtual memory size. After that, just restart the system.

The virtual memory is insufficient because the virtual memory setting in Windows is too small or the space capacity of the hard disk where the virtual memory is located is insufficient. It is suggested that the virtual memory and the operating system be placed in different partitions and set a fixed size, which is generally 1.5 times the system memory capacity; Right-click "My Computer", select "Properties" to pop up the system properties window, select the "Performance Options" tab, click the "Virtual Memory" button below to pop up the virtual memory setting window, click the "User-specified virtual memory setting" radio button, select the partition with large remaining hard disk space, and then enter the appropriate partition in the "Minimum" and "Maximum" text boxes. If you find it a little troublesome to get the maximum and minimum values by the system, you can choose "Let Windows manage the virtual memory settings" here, but make sure that the remaining space in the partition where the virtual memory is located is large enough (more than 2 times the system memory).

3, the system space is insufficient

By default, the virtual memory file is located on the system disk. For example, the virtual memory file name of WinXP is "pagefile.sys". If the remaining space of the system disk is too small, the virtual memory will be insufficient, and the problem of insufficient memory will also occur. The system disk should reserve at least 300MB of remaining space, of course, this value depends on the actual needs of users. Users should try not to install all kinds of application software on the system disk to ensure that the virtual memory file has enough space, and it is best to put the virtual memory file on the non-system disk.

4, because the system user permissions are set improperly.

When the Windows system based on NT kernel is started, the system user will create a virtual memory file for the system. Some users use NTFS file system for the safety of the system, but they cancel the system user's permission to "write" and "modify" on the system disk, so they can't create virtual memory files for the system, and there will be insufficient memory when running large programs. The problem is easy to solve, as long as the system users are given "write" and "modify" permissions again, but this is limited to users who use NTFS file system.
