Longyao County belongs to Xingtai City, Hebei Province. Located in the south-central part of Hebei Province, in the hinterland of North China Plain, it borders Neiqiu and Renxian in the southwest, and Julu County and Greater Cao Zhuang Administrative Region in the northeast. It covers an area of 749 square kilometers, governs 6 towns and 6 townships, and has a population of 512371(2012). The county government is located in Longyao Town.

Longyao County was formed by the merger of Longping County and Yaoshan County. Yaoshan County has a long history and is one of the nine counties in Xingzhou. The government of Emperor Yao Di is called "the hometown of Tang Yao" here, which is the birthplace of Li Tang family. Celebrities such as Li Mu, a famous Warring States player, Guo Wei, Chai Rong and Yan Cong, translators of Sui Dynasty, emerged. Longyao County has national cultural relics protection units such as Tang Zuling and Hundred People City, and Longyao Yangge, Zhao Zi Drum and Zepan Pavilion are listed in the national intangible cultural heritage list.
