My name is Bob Jones, and this is my wife Christine. I am very happy to be with you today, and I am honored to share the word of God with you. Today, we will read the sixth chapter of Judges, which Jews traditionally believe was written by Samuel. When we read Judges, we will see that Jews choose to worship some false gods of their enemies instead of the only true god, namely, the gods of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Then, they will finally confess their sins to God, repent and go back to worship the only true God, the Lord. When things go well, the Israelites will forget God, and then their enemies will invade them (Oh, no! ) They will need help then. God will send judges (or leaders) to fight for Israel. For a while, people will obey God until they forget it again. God raised Gideon (Gideon) to save them from his enemy Midian. When leaders die, they will turn against the Lord or use their own way of thinking again. Gideon must deal with such people. A writer said in the introduction of The Book of Judges, "The greatest hero appears in the worst confusion and confusion." Does this remind us of today's unstable economy? We need to pray for our leaders to have the will of God to rule our country. Gideon and other leaders must rely on God. Then God will send some judges (or leaders) to fight for Israel. The Israelites will obey God for a while, and then they will stay away from God. God raised Gideon to life and saved Israel from Midian. When the leader dies, the Israelites will turn away from God or think in their own way. This is the man Gideon needs to face. A writer wrote in the introduction of The Judge's Notes: The greatest heroes always appear in the most complicated times. Does this remind us of the unstable economic situation today? We need to pray for our leaders to have a mind that conforms to God's will to govern this country. Gideon and all other leaders must rely on God. As we read in Judges 6-8, we should look at Gideon, not what he has accomplished, but what he is thinking. When Gideon questioned in his mind whether he could defeat his enemy, he didn't think clearly. 6 v. 13, he was seen beating wheat at the bottom of the wine press in order to hide the wheat from his enemy Midian. He's thinking about fear. God must remember him. He is a "powerful hero". God said, "I am with you". God said, "Use your strength to save Israel". Judges 6: 14, Gideon thought in his mind, and even said to God, "We are the weakest and smallest tribe" and "Who am I?" God said, "I will go with you." Gideon still didn't believe it and asked God for a miracle. When we read Judges 6-8, we will see more Gideon's thoughts than his achievements. When Gideon doubted whether he could defeat the enemy, he didn't think clearly (Judges 6: 13). He is beating wheat in the wine cellar. He wanted to hide the grain from the Midianites. He was afraid. God reminded him that he was a "mighty warrior" and said "I am with you". God said, "You must save Israel from Midian by your power" (6: 14). Gideon thought about it and said to God, "We are the smallest tribe." "Who am I?" . God said, "I will be with you." But Gideon was still uncertain, so he asked for proof. Gideon cooked meat and unleavened cakes, and one day he burned them up with a torch. Gideon said in his heart, I am the door, and he said, I saw the angel of the Lord face to face. I don't feel well because I saw the angel of the Lord face to face. ) Gideon thought he was going to die again. God said, "It doesn't matter." God instructed Gideon to tear down the altar built by his father for Baal, cut down the Asherah puppet and use it as fuel ... Gideon listened, built an altar for the Lord, sealed a bull as a burnt offering to the Lord, and tore down Baal's altar, but he walked at night. Why? Because he is afraid, his father's home and the people in the town can't stand it in his mind. Of course, God stopped Gideon's father from saying, "Let Baal defend himself if he is God." Gideon still asked God for another sign. Gideon made meat and unleavened cakes, and then the sky burned these gifts with fire. Gideon said to himself, I am not well, because I saw the angel of the Lord face to face. Gideon once again thought he was going to die. But God said, "Don't be afraid." . God told Gideon to tear down the altar that his father had built for Baal, cut down the puppet beside the altar, and stood by the altar, using the wood of the puppet as fuel. Gideon listened, built a new altar for God, and then offered a bull as a burnt offering to God. He also destroyed the altar of Baal. But he did it at night. Why? Because he is afraid of his father, his family and the people in the city. Of course, God won. Gideon's father said, "If Baal is God, let him fight for himself." . Gideon still asked God for proof. He still didn't believe that in his heart, God would save Israel. He tested it with wool. He asked God when to put the wool on the threshing floor at night. If the wool is wet in the morning and the ground is dry, he will believe in God. Of course it happened. God is not a liar. No. 23: 19. Gideon still didn't believe it, so he used the wool test again. God asked the wool to stay dry and the ground was wet. Answer again. So we know this story. As we read in Chapter 7, God defeated his enemies. When we read, study and meditate on God's Word, we must also be persuaded. If we trust and obey him and renew our minds through his holy spirit, we will also win the war and overcome the trials we face. Gideon is still not sure whether God will save the Israelites. He proved it with wool. He prayed to God that if he put wool in the ground, it would be wet and dry the next day. Of course, this happened. "If God was not a man, he would never lie" (Numbers 23: 19). Gideon was still unconvinced, so he used wool to prove it. This time, he hoped that the wool was dry and there was dew on the ground. God promised him again. Then we know the following story. In chapter 7, we see that God defeated his enemies. Similarly, when we read, study and meditate on God's Word, we should also be sure. If we believe in God, obey God, and constantly renew our thoughts and concepts through the Holy Spirit, then we will surely win our battles and overcome the trials before us. Today, the Bible says, in Phil 2:5, let this idea rest on you. Also in Christ Jesus. Pro 23:7 As a man thinks, so is he. Gideon was afraid at first that he didn't believe that God was with him, but in the end, when victory came, he changed his mind, and now he believes in God again. The Israelites, too, once again saw their God in his mercy to pass for them. No matter who or what our enemy is, as long as we believe and obey God, he is always faithful. The Bible tells us that if we offend God. He wants us to repent and return to him. John 2: 12 He will forgive us forever and revive us. If Gideon decides not to listen to God and continues to be defeated, in his view, the Israelites have already been defeated, and we have a great God! Today, the Bible tells us (Philippians 2: 5) that you should take the heart of Christ Jesus as your heart. (Proverbs 23: 7) He does what he thinks. At first, Gideon was afraid and doubted whether God was with him, but in the end, when victory came, he changed his mind and believed in God again. The Israelites once again saw God's mercy on them. No matter who our enemies are, when we trust God, God is always faithful. The Bible tells us that if we have sinned against God, God wants us to confess our sins and turn to him. 1 John 2: 12. God will forgive our sins. If Gideon decides not to listen to God and is still overcome by the fear in his heart, then Israel will also be defeated. We have a great god! Jesus is our perfect sacrifice, so let us believe and obey, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and victory is ours. We have a God who sent his son, Jesus, and paid an incredible price, so that we can have rich life on the earth and live with eternal life forever. Compared with what he has prepared for us, anything we have experienced here is insignificant. Jesus is our perfect salvation sacrifice. Let us believe in and obey the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and then the victory belongs to us. We have a God who sent his son Jesus to this world with a very heavy price, so that we can have a rich life on the earth and have eternal life forever. What we experience today is nothing compared with what God will save for us in the future.
