(2) In the advanced menu, click Advanced Settings.
(3) On the Adapter and Binding tab, make sure that "File and printer sharing on Microsoft network * * *" is selected.
MSDE 2000 installation will fail if any of the following security policies are set to "Do not install":
●Windows XP's local security policy "Device: Install unsigned drivers".
● The local security policy of ●Windows 2000 is "unsigned non-driver installation operation".
If you use the "Do not install" setting, you must change the setting to "Continue by default" before installing MSDE 2000. If necessary, you can restore the policy to the previous settings after the installation is completed.
The description "Do not install" is not the default setting of these security policies.
To set these policies:
1. In the control panel, double-click administrative tools.
Double-click the local security policy.
3. Expand Local Policies.
Check the security options.
Before installing MSDE 2000, ensure that the following options in the right pane are set to Continue by default:
For Windows NT and Windows 2003: "Device: Installation operation of unsigned drivers".
For Windows 2000: "Installation operation of unsigned non-drivers".
Please delete the installed sqlserver directory before reinstalling.
