I don't know about the rubber rope. Never used it, but the braided rope (slub rope) is thick and light, which feels heavy to use and it is not easy to improve the speed. Breaking the wind is obviously slower than the rope I mentioned above.
Of course, if you dance fancy, you can use a bamboo rope, but as you said before, it's to lose weight. I recommend keep or Decathlon, which is very cheap, tens of dollars.
