Tongan District is the largest administrative district in Xiamen, a famous hometown of overseas Chinese and ancestral home of Taiwan compatriots, with a total land area of 658 square kilometers, connecting Xiang 'an District and jimei district, about 40 minutes' drive from Xiamen Island. Located at the junction of Tong 'an District and Xiang 'an District, the sea area around East China is the newly planned northern municipal center of Xiamen Municipal Government.
