Lin Chong bludgeoned the flood is a classic story in Water Margin. The author only used three or four pages to describe the personality characteristics of the three characters vividly.
The story is: When Lin Chong was framed by Gao Taiwei and sent to Cangzhou, he met Chai Jin. At the strong invitation of Chai Jin, he went to Chai Jin Villa to see Hong. Under the repeated offenses and provocations of Hong, Lin Chong had to compete with him. Finally, it brought great shame to himself, and Hong fled in shame.
Lin Chong showed his humility and forbearance when he saw Hong, while Hong "completely ignored and refused to reciprocate", which showed Hong's conceit, arrogance and contempt for others. Sun Tzu's Art of War said that "pride goes before a fall", which laid the groundwork for Hong's failure. The use of "come, come, come" three times in the book fully embodies Hong's arrogance.
Lin Chong only took a step back and knocked Hong to the ground with a stick. It can be seen from here that Lin Chong is a real strong man with high martial arts and hidden secrets. Hong was arrogant and domineering, and he lost miserably.
At all times and in all countries, examples of failure or even extinction due to pride abound. We can't be as arrogant as Hong, because one mountain is higher than the other. We should be as modest and patient as Lin Chong. Because modesty makes people progress, and pride makes people fall behind! !
