These five methods have been handed down in later generations, but the stepping stone has been lost, and the content of guiding stilts has not been completely handed down. Therefore, the mainstream treatment methods are acupuncture, moxibustion and medicine. Reflected in the Tang Dynasty Sun Simiao's "Qian Jin Fang". It is recorded in Qian Jin Fang that no matter what disease, we should analyze and differentiate symptoms and signs first, and then start treatment after syndrome differentiation. Prescriptions I, II and III used for treatment are what we call decoction; Which acupuncture point is several inches, which acupuncture point is several strong, is acupuncture. The treatment of TCM in later generations formed one needle, two moxibustion and three drugs.
Sun Simiao clearly put forward that moxibustion can be used to prevent diseases in his "Thousand Daughters Wings". At that time, Sun Simiao suggested that whenever you go to the "land of Wu and Shu", that is, where boils and miasma abound, you can avoid being infected by these infectious diseases through moxibustion, and clearly put forward that moxibustion can be used to prevent infectious diseases. Many Chinese medicine practitioners continue to use it now. In the Song Dynasty, a man named Dou Cai clearly put forward health moxibustion. Dou Cai believes that there are three ways to save lives: the first is burning moxa, the second is Dan medicine, and the third is aconite. Burning moxa is what we call moxibustion. Heart Sutra attaches great importance to moxibustion, and it is also the first concept he put forward to support yang moxibustion in history. Before the Song Dynasty, moxibustion could not only cure diseases, but also prevent diseases. In the Song Dynasty, Dou Cai clearly pointed out that when people are not sick, they should always moxibustion the four points of Mingmen, Zhongwan, Qihai and Guanyuan. Even if they don't live long, they can live to be 100 years old, and then gradually use them for health care.
Historically, moxibustion has been used to treat acute diseases. Many people think that moxibustion works slowly and can be used for chronic diseases. Ge Hong, a Chinese medicine practitioner in Jin Dynasty, wrote a book "Elbow Backup Emergency Prescription", which was used to treat emergencies. Because Ge Hong is a Taoist and often stays in the mountains, he said, "If he is a man of practice, it is not convenient to seek treatment from others, and people living around him also need help to solve the disease", so he wrote this emergency book. In this elbow emergency prescription, some prescriptions of acupuncture are involved when dealing with emergency problems. The prescription of acupuncture in this book is 109, of which 99 are moxibustion.
In addition to treating acute diseases, it also treats serious diseases. There is an idiom called terminal illness, which tells that there was a man named Jin in ancient times. Your disease is above phlegm and below ointment, which can't be attacked or reached, and the medicine can get rid of the disease. "Attack" refers to moxibustion, "Da" refers to pointer, and "medicine" refers to decoction. The doctor said that it was useless to take medicine for this disease, acupuncture was useless, and moxibustion could not be cured, so it could not be cured. This story is recorded in a special article in China ancient medical literature. In the Tang Dynasty, Sun Simiao made a further evaluation of this story in his book. At that time, people were stupid and didn't know that the human body had an acupoint called Gao Zhuyu. If we knew this acupoint and applied moxibustion on it, Duke Jing of Jin might not die. As can be seen from this story, it is generally believed that this person is very ill and has no rule of law. It is possible to use moxibustion and moxibustion for treatment, so moxibustion can be used to treat these very difficult and serious diseases in ancient times.
