When he was stationed in Jingnan and returned to his hometown, his mother Feng asked him, "What is your new policy of managing county affairs?" Chen Xiao said: "Jingnan is in an important position, and there are banquets during the day. Every time I take pleasure in archery, all the guests sitting here are amazed. " His mother said, "Your father taught you to do your best for your country with loyalty and filial piety. Now you don't practice benevolence with your heart, but concentrate on your own archery skills. Is it the wish of your dead father? " . His mother hit him with a stick and broke his goldfish accessories.

Extended information Chen Yaozi, three-year champion of Gengzike in Xianping, Song Zhenzong (1000). In the third year of Jingdezhen (1006), Chen Yaozi became the examiner of Jinshi.
