What are monolayer culture and suspension culture of cells?
Monolayer culture means that cells are attached to a certain solid surface for culture. In the process of culture, adherent cells should be attached to the wall of the culture container (bottle). Once the cells adhere to the wall, they spread rapidly, then start mitosis, and soon enter the logarithmic growth period. After a few days, the culture surface is covered, forming a dense cell monolayer.

Suspension culture refers to a tissue culture system that cultivates single cells and small cell clusters in a constantly stirring or shaking liquid medium. It is a non-adherent cell culture method. After adaptation and selection, some adherent cells can also be cultured in this way. It is relatively simple to increase the scale of suspension culture, as long as the volume is increased. When the depth exceeds 5mm, the culture medium needs to be stirred; when it exceeds 10cm, CO2 and air need to be deeply introduced to ensure sufficient gas exchange. A culture method in which cells are always dispersed and suspended in a culture solution by oscillating or rotating devices.
