So, if the eyes are afraid of light, what may be the reason?
First, eye fatigue
For modern people, it is mainly eye fatigue caused by watching computers, mobile phones, televisions, etc. for a long time. Some people do not pay attention to adjusting the brightness to the eye protection mode when using electronic products. Reflecting light on their eyes for a long time will make them feel dry, sour and photophobia. At this time, you can listen to the doctor's advice and buy some eye drops to relax your eyes and not be tired. More importantly, pay attention to eye rest.
Second, the eyes are inflamed.
Common symptoms, such as keratitis, conjunctivitis, corneal broken skin, iritis, etc. There will be symptoms of fear of light. If you are afraid of light for a long time, you should have an eye examination in time. If it is caused by eye inflammation, the symptoms will get better after treatment.
Third, non-inflammatory eye diseases.
Although photophobia caused by eye inflammation is very common, some non-inflammatory eye diseases can also lead to photophobia, such as glaucoma, albinism and total blindness caused by self-inheritance.
Fourth, dry eye.
It is worth noting that a considerable number of patients with dry eye still do not know that they have this eye disease. According to relevant data, the incidence of dry eye in China is about 20%-36%, which is equivalent to one or two dry eye patients in every five people. At present, the most common pathogenic factors include the first point mentioned above, overuse of eyes and neglect of eye hygiene, among which too few blinks are the most common pathogenic factors.
Dry eye is mainly manifested as increased secretion, sore eyes and foreign body sensation. In severe cases, it can cause keratoconjunctival lesions, decreased vision and even blindness. Because there are often many causes of dry eye, a detailed examination should be done before treatment.
Five, bad eye habits
There are two kinds of people who are used to wearing contact lenses for a long time and reading books with their eyes in dim light.
1. The harm to eyes caused by long-term wearing contact lenses has been widely circulated, but most cosmetic contact lens lovers still take it seriously. Because contact lenses cover the cornea, it will cause eye hypoxia, and long-term wear will also lead to the decline of eye resistance, bacterial growth and thus damage the cornea, resulting in foreign body sensation, fear of light, redness and so on.
2. If you use your eyes in dim light for a long time, your eyes will get used to dim light and it is difficult to adapt to normal brightness. Alcohol and tobacco are afraid of light and thorns, which will lead to a rapid decline in vision in the long run.
Six, some systemic diseases
Common things such as migraine, meningitis, trigeminal neuralgia or head trauma may also be afraid of light. When treating this kind of photophobia, we should focus on the root cause of the disease and simply suppress eye discomfort to treat the symptoms rather than the root cause.
Seven, congenital diseases
For example, congenital large pupil or light iris color, congenital glaucoma and so on. It can also lead to fear of light, and such people will feel uncomfortable when the light is slightly strong. Some of these diseases can be treated, but daily attention is more important for eye protection.
