Hamster is the general name of hamster subfamily. There are 7 genera 18 species, mainly distributed in Asia and a few in Europe, among which there are 3 genera and 8 species in China.
Except hamsters distributed in Central Asia, other hamsters have cheek pouches on both sides of their cheeks, which extend from the molar side to the shoulder. It can be used to temporarily store or carry food back to the cave for storage, so it is named hamster, also known as hamster. It often cleans its hair, but it is still difficult to get rid of a bad smell. Therefore, if people keep it, they must deodorize it with mouse sand every day.
Hamsters are mainly active at night, and their eyesight is poor. They can only distinguish shapes and colors from black and white. Have a keen sense of smell. The coat color is complicated. Breeding after the end of spring, 2-3 fetuses per year, 5- 12 per fetus. The average life span is 2-3 years.
At present, most of the hamsters raised by people belong to pygmy hamsters and golden mice. The golden mouse is native to Syria, Lebanon and Israel. 1938 was introduced to the United States, and it officially became a pet, also known as Syrian hamster and bear.
Other dwarf hamsters include Campbell hamster, maple leaf mouse, short-tailed squirrel, lying mouse and first-line mouse, which are native to eastern Baikal, Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Hebei and Inner Mongolia.
Gakaria hamster, also known as maple leaf mouse, short-tailed mouse, prone mouse and third-line mouse, is native to eastern Kazakhstan and southwestern Siberia.
Roborowski hamster, some people call it the old man, is native to Russia, Kazakhstan, Xinjiang, southwest Mongolia and other places.
