The so-called "flexible bonesetting" seems to be that the palm or finger "presses" on the treatment site, and there is no unnecessary action. There is also the palm pressing down on the spinous processes of multiple vertebral bodies, and there is nothing unusual from the appearance alone.
Later, in some clinical experiments, we found some interesting phenomena:
1, some people "press" for a while and it will have an effect. There is no need to force "bonesetting";
2, some people "press" need a certain direction and keep it for a certain time to be effective;
3. Some people are always ineffective;
4. Some people are ineffective for the first time, but it will be effective after several times;
……
There is actually a bug in the so-called "bonesetting" theory: that is why normal joint movements cannot "bonesetting", but patients should be put in different postures and then external forces should be applied to "bonesetting".
I attended some teachers' courses some time ago. In class, the teacher asked, "What is the most important feeling of the human body?"
Many students, including myself, also want to answer "pain", but the teacher's answer is "proprioception"-the feeling of knowing the position of one's joints and limbs.
The human body has a mechanism of seeking advantages and avoiding disadvantages. In the process of so-called posture control or motion control, people will respond to external stimuli. As far as "bonesetting" is concerned, the purpose of bonesetting is to restore the human body's sense and control of joint position. The specific method is to make the human skeleton return to the central axis or close to the normal structure as much as possible (Zhiyi once borrowed the concept of Qin Wenqing and called it "congenital standard"). Bone-setting or manipulation therapy can be regarded as a passive exercise therapy, and its effectiveness depends on "the patient's understanding of his limb position"!
The purpose of bonesetting is to restore the human body's perception and control of joint position, and it is not necessary to click to be considered as "bonesetting"-in this way, all kinds of flexible bonesetting methods are nothing more than restoring the human body's perception and control of joints. In fact, it is understandable that bonesetting doesn't touch the bones and joints at all (for example, in recent years, a gentleman in Taiwan Province Province has a lot of spring and autumn brushwork, but recently there has been a so-called "bonesetting from a distance"
Flexible bonesetting seems to be just different parts of the hand pressing on the bone, and its process is similar to Tai Ji Chuan's "listening". First ask the bone with a small force and feel the abnormal tension on the bone-this tension is the "abnormal tension" or "abnormal stress" in popular parlance, and its source may be joint capsule, ligament, muscle or fascia. Then press the bone with a very light force to "unload" these abnormal stresses and achieve the effect of "bonesetting".
Assuming that the stress direction of the vertebral body is the dotted line direction, the direction of pressing the bone at this time is the direction shown by the pencil, so as to achieve the purpose of "setting the bone", rather than the dotted line direction drawn by the pencil. Seemingly simple "keep still" or "keep crawling", in fact, the direction of finger or palm force (not force) is very complicated. When I was watching Mr. Mao's treatment, I saw that he often cooperated with the cervical lateral plate or thoracic vertebra end lifting technique similar to traditional orthopedics after applying flexible orthopedics. This operation should be to adjust the pressure of the joint capsule by "pulling" after removing the abnormal stress of a single joint.
It should be noted that there are many proprioceptors near the joint capsule, and pressing the bones with light force can stimulate these structures more and restore the body's control over the joints. Correspondingly, the chiropractic activator (chiropractic gun) uses the method of "fast, low amplitude and impact" to stimulate the proprioceptors near the joints, and the reason why this method is "fast" is to make the muscles "too late" to tighten and protect the joints reflexively-simulating the classic action of hammer therapy tools by hand, which is the "hammering" bonesetting method of Teacher Li Hua.
Both flexible bonesetting and adsorption bonesetting are "slow, low amplitude, creeping/sliding (adsorption force method)". These methods operate by contacting the bone at a relatively slow speed and with a small force, and remove the abnormal stress on the bone by sensitively sensing the abnormal stress source on the bone. This kind of contact pressure requires the operator's strength to actually press the bone and pull the joint capsule through the bone, but not to pull the muscle with too much force.
Both methods need to be aware of the source of stress on bones, and use the doctor's "listening to conscience" to activate the patient's "good color" to achieve the so-called bonesetting purpose. This is also why many practitioners of traditional traumatology practice boxing, only through boxing training to enhance the human body's ability to perceive strength and control strength points. Because boxers often experience falls due to professional restrictions, they are experienced in treating injuries.
