Kunyushan National Forest Park is located in the middle of Jiaobei ancient uplift in Jiaodong uplift area of North China platform. This stratum belongs to the second rock group of Jiaodong Group in Late Proterozoic, and it is Cenozoic Quaternary diluvial. Kunyu Mountain belongs to Changbai Mountain and Laoshan Mountain, with more than 25 peaks above 500 meters above sea level, steep mountain slopes, towering peaks, criss-crossing gullies and magnificent momentum. The main peak, Taibo Peak, is 923 meters above sea level, with a relative height difference of nearly 900 meters, which constitutes the roof of Shandong Peninsula. The hills below 400 meters are Xiayan Mountain and Grain Rain Mountain, which constitute the high mountains and vast mountainous areas around Kunyu Mountain. Rock is an ancient volcanic intrusive rock in CAMBRIAN, with granite being the most widely distributed, gneiss and quartz porphyry being less distributed. The main mountain ranges in the reserve run east-west, forming branches and valleys running north-south. The criss-crossing valleys cut Kunyu Mountain into several small landform types, providing an excellent natural environment for biodiversity distribution.

The soil type of Kunyu Mountain belongs to forest brown soil. Mainly sandy soil, with granite as the parent material, loose structure, unclear hierarchy and acidic or slightly acidic. As of 20 1 1 year 1 1 month, there are 536 genera and 1073 species of wild higher plants16/family in Kunyu Mountain National Forest Park. The families, genera and species of vascular plants account for 62.8%, 47.7% and 38. 1% of the total in Shandong province, and the families, genera and species of wild seed plants account for 80. 1%, 67.6% and 56.5% of the total in Shandong province, which is one of the regions with the richest plant species. Among the recorded species of wild plants, there are seven species of national first-and second-class protected plants, namely Ginkgo biloba, Juglans mandshurica, Zoysia japonica, wild soybean, Fraxinus mandshurica, Phellodendron amurense and Tilia amurense, 0 species of national second-class protected fungi-Tricholoma matsutake/Kloc-,and eight species of orchids are listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. 46 species of "rare and endangered plants in Shandong Province". There are 22 endemic plants in Shandong, among which 13 are endemic to Kunyu Mountain. There are 8 species of plant model specimens, namely: Betula platyphylla, Tilia japonica, Zanthoxylum bungeanum, Sedum Jiaodong, Prunus armeniaca, Betula platyphylla, Quercus variabilis.

Kunyu Mountain National Forest Park is rich in plant species and complex in flora, which is the richest gene bank of plant resources in Shandong Province. Kunyu Mountain National Forest Park belongs to Palaearctic realm among terrestrial animals. Terrestrial wild animals are mainly Palaearctic animals and also contain oriental elements. On the zoogeographical division of China, it belongs to the hilly province of North China and Huanghuai sub-region. Animal community belongs to warm temperate forest-forest grassland and farmland flora. It belongs to the hilly region of Jiaodong in the geographical division of terrestrial vertebrates in Shandong Province.
