Stop believing in moderate drinking! Harvard 10 year study: drinking alcohol or getting heart disease more easily.
In China, since ancient times, the view has been "moderate drinking to keep fit", especially liquor, so many drinkers can't accept the statement that "drinking is harmful".

@ Blue Love:

There is neither pure good nor pure bad in the world. As long as it is moderate, it is harmless. I believe that moderate drinking is good for health, so I drink 20-20% white wine every day. Now 55 years old, healthy, all indicators are normal, except for a slightly higher protein A.

@ Laugh at life:

I don't agree that drinking will cause cancer. My uncle drank every day and lived to be 97 years old without any cancer. There are also people around me who drink every day and live to be eighty or ninety years old. They are very healthy.

In addition, in recent years, peanuts have been hailed as "the best appetizer", which is said to have the effects of nourishing the stomach and relieving alcoholism, and even make people fall in love with drinking "health preservation".

Is drinking healthy? Can peanuts really go with wine? Today's article tells you.

There are many claims that drinking a small amount of alcohol may be beneficial to health, and evidence has been produced.

For example, European studies show that drinking a small amount of alcohol may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality. BMC's research pointed out that a small amount of drinking per week may be related to the reduction of cardiovascular disease mortality.

These statements undoubtedly cheer drinkers: finally find a reason to drink!

But in fact, there are some loopholes in these "evidences" more or less. A recent study published by Harvard University pointed out this problem and gave a real answer.

In March 2022, JAMA sub-journal published a research result on "Drinking and Health", which was jointly completed by researchers from MIT and Bode Institute of Harvard University. The longest follow-up time of this study was 10 years (2006 -20 16 years), including 37 1463 participants, with an average age of 57 years, of whom 46% were men, and the average weekly drinking amount was 9.2 standard cups.

The preliminary results show that among the participants, people who drink a little have the lowest risk of heart disease, followed by abstainers, and people who drink a lot have the highest risk of heart disease.

Does this conclusion just confirm that "a small amount of drinking is good for health"? Unfortunately, no.

Further analysis shows that the cardiovascular health of a small number of drinkers is actually due to their better lifestyle. Compared with moderate and heavy drinkers, they prefer to exercise, eat more vegetables and smoke less.

Then, the research team used the nonlinear Mendelian randomization method to try to find the causal relationship between drinking and disease risk.

The final result shows that even a small amount of drinking will increase the risk of cardiovascular disease after excluding the factors of "different lifestyles", and the risk of cardiovascular disease will increase exponentially with the increase of drinking.

It is said that drinking peanuts can relieve hangover and nourish the stomach. Is it true?/You don't say.

The protein content of peanuts is about 25%~30%, and the fat content is as high as 40%, which has a certain effect on delaying alcohol absorption and relieving stomach irritation. But "delaying alcohol absorption" does not mean "hangover"! Detoxification refers to accelerating the metabolism of alcohol, but peanuts do not have this function and cannot make people increase the consumption of alcohol.

In fact, many other foods can delay alcohol absorption, and peanuts are the least recommended. Why?

First of all, peanuts are high in calories and belong to high-fat foods. Excessive intake can easily increase cholesterol and uric acid levels and affect weight. Secondly, peanuts are not easy to digest. If you are a patient with cholecystectomy or gastrointestinal diseases, you should stay away as far as possible because of the decreased digestive ability. Finally, when drinking peanuts, it is easy to take one bite after another and can't stop, leading to excessive intake.

So whether you drink or not, you should eat less peanuts, especially fried peanuts, which are more harmful to your health.

Generally, people like to have some appetizers when drinking, but do you know that eating some appetizers often may be harmful to your health? Try to eat as little as possible, not too much.

The food after barbecue will not only lose nutrients such as protein and vitamins, but also produce harmful substances such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and benzopyrene. Alcohol can dilate the blood vessels in the digestive tract and destroy the mucosa of the digestive tract. If you eat barbecue while drinking, it will make it easier for your body to absorb these harmful substances.

Many people like to eat seafood when drinking, especially raw and cold seafood such as raw fish sashimi and drunken shrimp, but there are also risks.

"Gout comes with drinking seafood." Most seafood is rich in purine, which will increase the uric acid level of human body, and alcohol will also increase the uric acid level. If uric acid cannot be excreted in time and deposited in joints or soft tissues, it may lead to redness, swelling, heat and pain, hyperuricemia and even gout.

Animal offal such as pig liver and pig farm are common appetizers, which are cheap on the one hand and unique in taste on the other. However, the content of purine in animal viscera is high, and frequent intake of a large amount can increase the level of uric acid in the body, causing hyperuricemia, gout and other diseases.

Secondly, the internal organs of most animals are high-fat foods with high cholesterol content. Regular consumption may cause diseases such as hyperlipidemia, reduce the elasticity of blood vessels and harden them, and increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

So how to protect your body when drinking? It is suggested to do the following four things.

1, be sure to limit alcohol consumption. Dietary Guidelines suggest that the daily alcohol intake of men should not exceed 25g (equivalent to 1 bottle of beer or a small glass of red wine), and that of women should not exceed15g.

2. Before and during drinking, try to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, mushrooms, bean products, miscellaneous grains and other staple foods to increase satiety and delay the absorption of alcohol.

3. Choosing low-alcohol alcohol to reduce the harm of alcohol to the body and avoid mixing different wines may accelerate the absorption of alcohol.

4. Drink plenty of water when drinking, promote the metabolism and excretion of alcohol, and don't drink or get drunk.

Of course, the safest way is not to drink a drop of wine! Even a small amount of drinking will do harm to the body and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and other diseases. Drinking is a harmful thing, please treat it rationally.
