Chen Tai Ji Chuan is full of strength and fighting posture, suitable for young people to display their fists and feet.
However, in the view of Wu Tunan, a descendant of Wu-style Tai Ji Chuan, the explosive power that Chen-style Tai Ji Chuan is proud of is just a gesture of foreign boxing, not a real domestic kung fu. Internal work pays attention to internal strength, internal strength, interception and hitting. At best, it can only be called a gun hammer. This anecdote originated from the Taiji Council held in Beijing at the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The participants were all leading figures in Tai Chi circles at that time, including Yang, Wu, Wu,. At that time, Chen Fake, the head of Chen Taiji, was heckled by Wu Tunan. Although embarrassed, he said on the spot that Chen Tai Chi is not Tai Chi, but we are cannon hammers. Count us in for the your Taiji Conference.
That's weird. It is well known that Yang Luchan stole Chen Jiagou's paintings. Later, Chen Changxing saw his sincerity and taught Chen Jiajue a lesson. Yang Luchan, who returned from studying art, became famous all over the world for boxing for the palace, and Tai Ji Chuan became popular all over the country. So that the world only knows that Tai Chi Chuan is the Yang family's Juexue, but it doesn't know Chen Jiayou. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, Yang Chengpu, the third generation descendant of the Yang family, came to Beijing to promote Chen-style Tai Ji Chuan. But at first, he didn't dare to say that he was a biography of Tai Chi, so he called himself a cannon hammer, opened a museum and became a disciple. However, his martial arts character was very high, and he soon gained a firm foothold and began to establish his own school, officially known as Chen Tai Chi. Gun hammer is a kind of boxing handed down from Chenjiagou era. It is said that it was a long fist compiled by Qi Jiguang in the Ming Dynasty, which was practiced by the frontier anti-Japanese troops and passed down to Chenjiagou from generation to generation.
So is the Tai Chi that Yang Luchan learned from Chen Changxing in Chenjiagou the same as the Tai Chi that Chen Fake later taught in Beijing? Chen Fake is Chen Changxing's grandson. Wu Tunan is the third generation of Wu Taiji's biography. The first generation of Wu Taiji, Wu Quanyou, studied under Yang Luchan and his son Yang Banhou. His next generation of disciples started Wu Taiji School, which is still a branch of Yang Taiji. Why did the descendants of Wu Tai Ji Chuan deny the origin of Chen Tai Ji Chuan?
The reason is that The Legend of Taiji, regarded as a classic by various schools of Taiji Kung Fu, was written by Wang Zongyue, who is not from Chenjiagou, but from Shanxi or is said to be from Shaanxi. He claimed to be Mountain Right Wang Zongyue and lived in the Kangxi period in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. His book The Legend of Taiji was won by Wu Yuxiang, a fellow villager of Yang Luchan. He is rich and educated. Wu Yuxiang is a scholar who likes practicing martial arts. His two brothers are both senior officials, and they are also the people who funded Yang Luchan to go to Beijing to give boxing and run schools.
It is said that Yang Luchan studied martial arts in Chenjiagou, and his martial arts soared. Wu Yuxiang had a fight with him and found it really fierce. Maybe they used to be almost as bad at martial arts. Now Yang Luchan is making rapid progress, and Wu Yuxiang refuses to accept it. He can't help but worship him as a teacher, feeling that he is also going out to learn. As a result, Wu Yuxiang didn't go to Chenjiagou to study, but went to Zhaobao Village (town) in the next county to study Tai Ji Chuan with a man named Chen Qingping. And brought back a copy of Quidditch by Wang Zongyue.
Chen Qing Ping of Zhaobao and Chen Changxing of Chenjiagou are not related by blood, but just happen to be surnamed Chen. After Wu Yuxiang returned from his studies, his martial arts soared. It is said that Yang Banhou, the most powerful son of Yang Luchan, studied by his side for many years. Later, he went to Beijing with his father to teach boxing, and the fight depended on his son Yang Banhou, who fought all over the capital and was invincible. When he said Yang was invincible, he actually meant Yang and his son Ban Hou.
Wu Yuxiang is a rich boy of scholarly family. Although his martial arts has reached a high level, its level is not lower than that of Yang Luchan. However, he will not put down his attitude and open a museum to teach boxing. His martial arts are mainly taught to his family and relatives at home. Fortunately, his nephew Li Yishe got his unique skills, as well as Tai Ji Chuan's theory and the secrets of Taiji, which made him have a complete classic of Tai Ji Chuan theory.
Then the problem is coming. Since Wang Zongyue's On Taibi Tai Ji Chuan was written in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, where is the origin of Tai Ji Chuan? According to Wu Tunan's textual research, Wang Zongyue's disciple once studied under Zhang Sanfeng and later under Jiang Fa, a native of Henan. When Jiang sent him back to his hometown in Henan, he passed by Chenjiagou and saw Chen Changxing practicing his gun and hammer. Everyone applauded, and he couldn't help laughing. He turned and left. Chen Changxing went after him and stretched out his hand and was thrown to the ground. Chen immediately bowed to the teacher. Jiang Faxu promised him that if he could lose his strength after three years, he would teach him soft Taijiquan. Chen Changxing therefore had to work hard in Tai Ji Chuan. At the same time, Jiang Fa taught Chen Qing peace and other disciples in his hometown, so Zhaobao Tai Ji Chuan has been passed down to this day.
Visible, Yang Tai Ji Chuan from Chen Gou, Wu Tai Ji Chuan from Zhao Bao. In the early years of the Republic of China, Hao Weizhen, a descendant of Wu Taiji, went to Beijing to preach boxing and was taken care of by Sun Lutang, a martial arts wizard. Giving all the essence of Wu's Tai Chi to each other, Sun Lutang was already a master of Xingyimen and Baguamen at that time, and combined with Tai Chi Kung Fu, he also created his own Sun-style Tai Ji Chuan, which integrated Xingyimen and Baguamen Tai Chi.
Wu Tunan thinks that since Chen Changxing, Chen Gou still has a traditional cannon hammer, and Chen Fake's boxing is also a cannon hammer rather than an authentic Taiji Kung Fu. Of course, this is just a family statement.
According to the descendants of Chen Taiji, the founder of Tai Ji Chuan was Chen, a native of Chengdu in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. He is both civil and military, and can lead troops to fight and create his own Tai Ji Chuan. However, according to literature research, there are many doubts about the authenticity of this person.
Another branch of Taiji is Nanpai Taiji, which is a branch of Zhang Sanfeng's disciple Zhang Songqian. There are many sources of Nanpai Taiji and Wudang Taiji. In Jin Yong's novels, Zhang Sanfeng's disciple, Wudang Seven Heroes, is not groundless, but is proved by historical data. Especially Song Yuanqiao and Lianzhou, and Tai Chi Kung Fu handed down from later generations. Of course, some documents are difficult to distinguish between true and false, which adds a lot of mystery to the origin of Taiji.
