Four forces of Buddhism and physical health
The common physical diseases of modern professionals and young people include cervical spondylosis, lumbar spondylosis, stomach diseases, fatty liver, eye diseases, prostatitis, hemorrhoids and so on, and most of these diseases are related to unhealthy lifestyles. Life style is mainly manifested in four aspects: walking, standing, sitting and lying down, which is what Buddhism calls four dignity. Four Dignity refers to the four forms of our body: walking, standing, sitting and lying. Secondly, these four forms all require certain manners, thus reflecting the corresponding manners, so they are named the Four Dignity. As China Goode said, walking like the wind, standing like a pine, sitting like a bell, lying like a bow, that is to say, the posture requirements and mental state of four dignity. In addition, in Ji Jing of Chang 'an No.9 Middle School, it is said that the Four Dignity is "feasible knowing and doing, living, sitting and lying", which is a higher level of the Four Dignity, that is, cultivating the right knowledge of interests and appropriateness in the daily Four Dignity. Knowing its advantages means knowing the advantages and disadvantages of its words and deeds, and it is biased towards the IQ of people all over the world; Appropriateness means knowing whether words and deeds are appropriate in time, place and way, and it is biased towards the emotional intelligence of people in the world. For people in the world, these two kinds of correct knowledge can not only realize and complete the wisdom of life, but also cultivate one's morality and avoid various physical diseases caused by unhealthy life and work style.

If the four dignity instruments in daily life damage health, it is usually due to overwork and habitual bad posture. Even if no one asks us to do it, we should take the initiative to do it. Even if we are asked to do it, we shouldn't do it ourselves.

First, walk with dignity.

In the narrow sense, the line in the four-way instrument is walking, and in the broad sense, it includes the movement of the body from one place to another in any way. The "walking like the wind" required by Buddhist etiquette means that walking on the water is unimpeded and popular, that is, you are not in a hurry and leisurely, avoiding looking around, shaking your head and shoulders, twisting your waist and hips. In addition, the "feasible knowing and doing" mentioned in the classics means doing feasible things, doing right things and doing good things, and avoiding clumsy harmful trips and unnecessary trips in time and occasions.

Many practitioners need to walk to complete their work, such as fertilizing farmers' farmland, porters carrying camels, couriers walking around the streets and entertaining business people on business trips. It takes considerable physical strength. There are leisure activities such as walking, walking the dog, traveling and sports in life, which are also different ways of walking. If you overdraw your physical strength due to heavy workload and overtime in a certain period of time, it will lead to physical exhaustion or local physical strain; If you overdraw your physical strength for years, it may lead to irreversible physical injury.

Both rural women and urban manual workers are prone to lumbar strain and lumbar disc herniation. Modern couriers, postmen, deliverymen and other people who often come to the door to serve are prone to three major occupational diseases: first, joint pain caused by going up and down stairs and pedaling bicycles for a long time; Second, prostatitis is caused by long-term cycling and motorcycle riding; Third, gastrointestinal diseases are caused by long-term irregular diet.

Some jobs require both physical strength and mental power, such as lawyers, journalists, public relations personnel, salesmen and other business people who need to travel for a long time. Being in a state of high tension for a long time may lead to nervousness and premature aging. At the same time, their diet and daily life are extremely irregular, and most of them are prone to insomnia and stomach problems. People who travel frequently are more prone to constipation or diarrhea. Busy white-collar workers, usually under great pressure and lack of sleep, are most likely to get gastrointestinal diseases such as functional dyspepsia and peptic ulcer; They often make a scene and persuade people to fight for alcohol, which can easily lead to hyperlipidemia, hypertension, fatty liver and other diseases. In addition, many young people rely on their youth and rich nightlife at night, which will cause sleep disorders.

When you are tired after going out for a long time, it is appropriate to stop working and relax your nerves. If you are tired from walking, you can find a park to sit down and rest. If you are thirsty, you can find a teahouse or coffee shop to quench your thirst while listening to music. If you are hungry, you can find a favorite restaurant to taste delicious dishes. Busy people should develop good eating and sleeping habits. Patients with stomach diseases should change their bad eating habits, eat regularly and quantitatively, chew slowly, not be partial to food, try not to smoke, drink less, eat less spicy and greasy food, and try to avoid overeating. Good sleep habits will be mentioned in the bedding.

Many people mistakenly think that they can strengthen their physique and regulate their body and mind through a lot of exercise after work, but they don't know that excessive exercise will sharply increase the oxygen consumption in the body and produce a lot of "active oxygen", which makes people more prone to fatigue and premature aging. In addition, strenuous exercise will aggravate the strain of some tissues and organs of the body, unbalance some physiological functions, and even lead to the damage of the human immune system. For busy people, we should advocate more suitable aerobic exercise, such as walking, jogging, dancing, yoga, Tai Ji Chuan, stretching and so on. This will regulate body and mind and promote health.

Second, Li Weiyi.

Standing, also called "living" in the classics, means standing and living. Neutral Buddhist dignity requires "standing like a pine and cypress", that is, when standing, the head should be tall and straight, and the whole body should be tall and straight to avoid drooping head and belly collapse. In addition, the "integration of knowledge and action" mentioned in the classic refers to standing when you can, and standing well when you can, avoiding clumsy and harmful stations and unnecessary stations in time and occasions.

For example, people who need to stand for a long time because of work are prone to varicose veins of lower limbs, which often cause pain and fatigue of lower limbs, and edema may occur in ankles, instep and other parts, which is the most common in the service industry. In order to avoid varicose veins of lower limbs, when you feel tired, you can rotate your legs to support your whole body weight, or you can stand on tiptoe and land together, and soak your feet with hot water or do leg exercises every night before going to bed. In addition, swimming is one of the best ways to prevent varicose veins.

Those who stand for a long time should not wear high heels often. Women put on high heels, lean forward, and the weight of the whole body basically falls on the soles of their feet. Coupled with tight front of shoes and uneven stress on toes, people who wear high-heeled shoes for a long time are not only prone to toe blistering, cocoon on the forefoot, corns on the sole or heel, foot pain and ankle sprain, but also often lead to foot deformation, bunion, metatarsal fracture, knee pain and backache.

If you really need to wear high heels at work, the heel should not be too thin, preferably not more than 5 cm, and the toe should be slightly loose to stretch your toes. Usually when wearing high heels, you can make a soft insole on the forefoot to cushion the pressure on the soles of your feet. Put on a pair of comfortable flat shoes after work and soak your feet in warm water for at least 5 minutes after you get home. Pay attention to ankles and feet every day.

In addition, adolescent women are not suitable for wearing high heels. If they really want to wear a sense of beauty, they should wear wedges and shoes with heels no more than 3 cm. Because the foot bones of 15- 16-year-old women are mature, wearing high heels too early will make the foot bones complete the ossification process according to the angle of high heels, which is prone to deformity; It also aggravates the unclear pelvic load, leading to pelvic stenosis, which directly affects the delivery in adulthood.

Third, sit with dignity.

Sit anywhere. In Buddhism, the "sitting like a bell" required by the honorific title means that when sitting, the upper body is straight and the lower plate is stable, so as to avoid tilting the head, leaning forward and leaning back, leaning against the wall and column, and shaking your legs. In addition, the classic "sitting" means sitting when you can, sitting well when you can, avoiding embarrassing and harmful sitting and avoiding unnecessary sitting in time and place.

Often sedentary, because the spine bears the whole body weight, it will lead to spinal deformation and induce various spinal diseases; In addition, the shoulder and neck will not move for a long time, which will cause cervical stiffness. Among the staff who need to work frequently, cervical spondylosis is the first occupational disease. People who often sit for a long time are also prone to lumbar hyperplasia and lumbar disc herniation; Or some people sit badly, leading to lumbar muscle strain, nerve root sciatica and so on. Sedentary people will weaken gastrointestinal peristalsis and reduce the secretion of digestive juice due to lack of whole body exercise. After a long time, they will have symptoms such as loss of appetite, indigestion and fullness. It will also cause fat to accumulate in the lower abdomen and back, leading to centripetal obesity; Sometimes it can cause constipation, hemorrhoids and bench sores; Sedentary people are also prone to prostatitis, and the proportion of people who work for a long time is as high as 30%.

People who sit still and operate computers for a long time are prone to compensatory hyperplasia of cervical vertebrae. In addition, it is also prone to various eye diseases, such as dry eyes, itching, burning pain, photophobia, blurred vision and decreased vision. Some people also have dizziness and headache, which is called computer eye disease in medicine. In addition, when using the computer frequently, the wrist joint is more likely to suffer from "mouse hand" because of overwork, which is mainly manifested in the stiffness, pain and numbness of wrist muscles and joints, index finger and middle finger, and muscle weakness of thumb. People who face the computer screen every day are easily absorbed by the fluorescent radiation of the screen and the dust on their faces, which makes the face dry, wrinkles, acne and acne grow, producing spots and turning yellow and black at the same time.

Modern offices are usually equipped with air conditioning. Frequently turning on the air conditioner will lead to stale indoor air, increased microorganisms in the air, improper temperature and humidity control, excessive temperature difference between indoor and outdoor, and decreased indoor negative ion concentration. Workers who live in it for a long time are prone to respiratory diseases, such as colds, rhinitis, pharyngitis and tracheitis. So go to the balcony to breathe fresh air when going to work, and let the air-conditioned room naturally ventilate after work. In addition, in air-conditioned rooms in summer, we should pay attention to the warmth of shoulders and neck.

Sedentary people should pay attention to timely relaxation, such as stretching while drinking tea, going to the balcony to breathe fresh air to see the future, chatting with colleagues, and moving their hands and feet by the way, so as to call relatives and friends when they go to the toilet. In this way, proper meetings will generally not affect normal work, but also effectively delay fatigue and relax. When operating the computer at ordinary times, sit up straight and keep your eyes at least 70cm away from the screen. Close your eyes properly in the middle of work. It is best to leave the computer 10 minutes within one hour and stand in front of the window for 3 minutes. Try to avoid sitting for a long time. After working at your desk for a period of time, you can temporarily leave your seat and exercise your whole body.

Fourth, the prestige of lying.

Lying is lying all over. In Buddhism, "lying like a bow" required by prestige means lying on the right side, with the upper body straight and legs slightly bent, which is "auspicious lying"; And be careful to avoid twisting and sleeping while sitting. In addition, the thirty-fifth volume of the Maha Monk Law stipulates that Asura (supine), hungry ghost (prone) and greedy person (left side) are not allowed to lie down, and only the right side is allowed to lie down, except those who have poor sleep and turn over unconsciously, elderly patients and patients with carbuncle on the right side. Forty-five volumes of Ten Odes say that you should not lie down under strong light, and those who are not ill should not lie down at will during the day. It is difficult to lie down against the wall in the volume of the Three Thousand Commandments of the Big Bhikkhu. In addition, the classic "knowing how to lie down" means lying down when you can, lying down well when you can, avoiding embarrassing and harmful lying and avoiding unnecessary lying in time and place.

Many office workers often need to work overtime and stay up late, and some people have rich nightlife and are far away from home. In the long run, these people will lead to the reversal of biological clock, disorder of nervous system and endocrine system, loss of appetite, insomnia, dreaminess, listlessness, slow response, forgetfulness, dizziness, headache, weakness of waist and knees, cold hands and feet, and further induce neurasthenia, hypertension, gastric ulcer and other diseases.

Don't sleep too much. Sleeping too much is not good for human health. Especially for patients with chronic diseases, if they have the habit of staying in bed, the diseased organs of the body will decline day by day, which will lead to the aggravation of the condition. Sleeping late often will disturb the body's biological clock and the secretion of human hormones. If hormones can't go up during the day and fall down at night, people can't sleep at night, but they are listless and slow during the day.

When people stay in bed for a long time, their activities are reduced, and calcium in bones is easy to fall off, and calcium in urine is easy to crystallize, which easily leads to kidney calculi. Some patients are prone to many related complications, such as bedsore, constipation, urolithiasis, hypercalcemia, hyperosteogeny, osteoporosis, urinary tract infection, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, cardiovascular diseases, oral diseases, muscle disuse atrophy, joint sclerosis, obviously reduced will to survive, etc., leading to the final treatment failure.

In addition, irregular sleep usually leads to irregular diet. For example, people with rich nightlife usually overeat at night, which is easy to cause obesity and insomnia. People who sleep late generally don't eat breakfast, and the gastrointestinal tract often suffers from hunger and peristalsis. After a long time, it is easy to get gastritis and gastric ulcer.

To sum up, in order to ensure physical and mental health, in daily life, on the one hand, we should pay attention to posture and dignity, on the other hand, we should avoid overwork. In the tenth volume of Great Wisdom, it is said that the human body "can be born if it is often ill, but it can die if it is not cured ... It has four dignity: sitting, lying and living, which is extremely annoying for sitting for a long time, and lying, living and walking for a long time". The article "Su Wenxuan and Wu Mingqi in Huangdi's Internal Classic" also said: "Long-term injury to blood, long-term lying injury to gas, long-term injury to meat, long-term injury to bones and long-term injury to tendons is called five pains. In the face of "five pains", Huangdi Neijing put forward the principle of health preservation, that is, "do not act rashly" and "be tireless" Lie down if you stand for a long time, walk if you lie down for a long time, sit if you walk for a long time, and exercise if you sit for a long time. In daily study, work and life, we might as well adjust each other through four kinds of prestige to ensure physical and mental health.
