Provisions of the national nutrient composition table
Management standard of food nutrition label

Article 1 This Code is formulated to guide and standardize the labeling of food nutrition labels, guide consumers to choose foods reasonably, promote the dietary nutrition balance, and protect consumers' right to know and health.

Article 2 The nutrition labels of prepackaged foods sold in People's Republic of China (PRC) shall conform to the management provisions of this Code.

Where there are other provisions in national laws, administrative regulations and standards, the relevant provisions shall prevail.

Article 3 The State encourages food enterprises to label their products with nutrition labels.

According to the implementation of this specification and the health needs of consumers, the Ministry of Health determines the food varieties, nutritional components and implementation time of compulsory nutrition labeling.

Article 4 The term "nutrition label" as mentioned in this Regulation refers to the information and description of the nutritional components of food provided to consumers, including the list of nutritional components, nutritional claims and functional claims of nutritional components.

Article 5 A nutrient table is a table for labeling the names and contents of food nutrients. The nutrients that can be labeled in the table include energy, nutrients, water and dietary fiber.

Article 6 When labeling food nutrition, nutrition claims and nutrition function claims, food enterprises should first label energy, protein, fat, carbohydrate, sodium and their contents.

In addition to the above ingredients, food nutrition labels can also indicate saturated fat (acid), cholesterol, sugar, dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Food enterprises shall mark the energy and four core nutrients specified in the first paragraph in a more prominent position than other nutrients.

Article 7 The nutritional ingredients in the nutrition label shall be marked with the content value of each100g (ml) and/or each serving of food, and the percentage of the nutritional ingredients in the nutritional reference value (NRV). Definition, determination method, labeling method and order of each nutrient component, numerical allowable error, etc. It shall comply with the provisions of the labeling standards for food nutrients.

The specific value of nutrient reference values (NRV) should conform to the Chinese food label nutrient reference values.

Article 8 Nutrition claim refers to the description and explanation of the nutritional characteristics of food, including:

(1) Content claim: refers to the claim describing the level of energy or nutrition in food. Claiming that the terms include "inclusive", "high", "low" or "none";

(2) Comparative claim: refers to the claim after comparing with the nutritional components or energy values of similar foods familiar to consumers. The claim includes "increase" and "decrease".

Article 9 The functional claim of nutrients refers to the claim that nutrients can maintain the normal growth and development of human body and normal physiological functions.

Article 10 The functional claims of nutritional ingredients in nutrition labels shall meet the following conditions:

(1) The claimed function of nutrients has recognized scientific basis and nutrient reference values (NRV);

(2) The claimed nutrient content in the product shall meet the requirements and conditions of the Guidelines for Food Nutrition Claims and Functional Claims of Nutritional Components;

(3) Relevant standard terms of functional claims of nutritional ingredients in the Guide to Food Nutrition Claims and Functional Claims of Nutritional Ingredients should be used.

Article 11 Nutrition labels shall be true and objective, and shall not be false, and shall not exaggerate the nutritional function of products. Any product label and publicity shall not delete, add nutrition claims and terms, or express or imply the function of treating diseases.

Article 12 According to the needs of scientific development and the actual situation, the Ministry of Health is responsible for adjusting the contents of nutrition labels, nutrition claims and nutrition function claims involved in food nutrition labels, and releasing them to the public in a timely manner.

Thirteenth food nutrition label format shall meet the following requirements:

(1) The labeling content of nutrients should be expressed in the form of "box table", and the box of the nutrient table can be of any size, and the box can be set to be perpendicular to the baseline of the package. The basic format conforms to the provisions of the food nutrition labeling standards;

(2) The contents of nutritional ingredients must be marked in an eye-catching position on the package;

(three) the main area of the label can be less than 20 square centimeters (cm2) or the package with extra large specifications can also be marked horizontally;

(4) The font and color of the nutrition label shall be clear, but the font of the nutrition claim shall not be larger than the common name and trademark of the product;

(5) The nutritional components shall be labeled in the order specified in the Labeling Standard for Nutritional Components of Food. When more nutrients are labeled, the labeling of energy and core nutrients should be eye-catching;

(6) If there is an outer package (or a large package), the nutrition label can only be marked on the outer package (or large package) delivered to consumers, but the net content of each serving must be marked on the inner package (or container).

Article 14 Nutrition labels shall be in Chinese. If foreign languages are used at the same time, the content shall correspond to Chinese, and the font size of foreign languages shall not be greater than that of Chinese.

Article 15 The numerical values indicated on food nutrition labels can be obtained through food ingredient calculation or product testing. The calculation record or test report shall be complete and true, which is convenient for verification and traceability.

Sixteenth the following prepackaged foods can not be labeled with nutrition labels:

(a) The daily food consumption is less than10g (g) or10ml (ml);

(2) Packaged raw meat, raw fish, raw vegetables and fruits;

(3) Foods with a total surface area of less than 100 square centimeter (cm2);

(4) Foods made and sold now;

(5) Products with alcohol content greater than or equal to 0.5%;

(six) other laws, administrative regulations and standards can not be labeled food.

Article 17 Food enterprises shall produce and market foods that meet nutritional requirements, and strengthen the quality control of food production, preservation and transportation.

Eighteenth food enterprises should be responsible for the authenticity of nutrition labels, equipped with professionals responsible for the production and audit of nutrition labels. Check the contents of the label before leaving the factory, and leave the factory only after passing the inspection.

Nineteenth false or wrong nutrition labels mislead consumers and cause health damage, food enterprises should bear corresponding responsibilities according to law.

Twentieth this specification shall come into force as of May 6, 2008. If the previous provisions on food nutrition labeling are inconsistent with this specification, this specification shall prevail.

Article 21 The Ministry of Health shall be responsible for the interpretation of this Code.
