In Japan, there are two kinds of institutions that provide services for the elderly: welfare institutions for the elderly and fee-paying nursing homes. The former is mainly led by the government (Ministry of Health and Welfare). According to the different situations and needs of the elderly, it is subdivided into day service centers for the elderly, short-term hospitalization facilities for the elderly, homes for the elderly, homes for the elderly with special care, homes for the elderly with lower expenses, welfare centers for the elderly, care and support centers for the elderly, and so on. Paid nursing homes are capital and strength introduced from society. Approved by the county government and operated by private enterprises. According to the different functions and forms, it can be divided into three types: nursing type, residential type and health type.
