Where is the origin of Rushan oysters?
Rushan oyster is produced in the culture sea area.

Located on the south bank of Shandong Peninsula at 37 north latitude, the coastline is 1 99.27km, and the aquaculture area is110,000 mu, which is a national first-class seawater quality. It is one of the largest oyster producing areas in the world.

Pacific Oyster is the main breed of Rushan Oyster, which adopts raft culture method. The culture areas are mainly distributed in the open waters from Rushankou in the west to Langnuankou in the east. Oyster industry has become one of the pillar industries of fishery economy in Rushan City.

Oyster culture

Oyster farming is a characteristic industry in Rushan, but influenced by traditional habits, oyster farming in Rushan used to be "sowing in spring and harvesting in autumn". Because there is no island off Rushan Bay, there are big waves in summer, and there are many attachments in the seawater in summer, the survival rate of oysters is not high and the output is low, which seriously restricts the development of oyster industry.

In 2000, the technicians of Rushan Marine Fisheries Bureau returned from studying abroad and jointly developed the oyster culture technology of "sowing in autumn and harvesting in spring" with China Ocean University. Semi-finished oysters are purchased from other places in September every year, and they are harvested from June 165438+ 10 to April of the following year. This culture mode avoids summer storms, shortens the culture cycle and greatly improves the survival rate of oysters. Now this farming model has been fully promoted in Rushan.

It is understood that at present, the cultivation area of oysters in Rushan will reach 80,000 mu, the output of oysters will exceed 500,000 tons, and there are 7 oyster processing enterprises with an annual processing capacity of 20,000 tons and an output value of 600 million yuan.
