Buddhism advocates bearing the burden of humiliation. Why do Shaolin monks practice martial arts?
Have the ability to bear the burden of humiliation, not the ability to bear the burden of humiliation. There is no inevitable contradiction between practicing martial arts and enduring humiliation. The humiliation in Buddhism is not to teach people to be obedient like cattle and sheep, but to teach people to be as informal as elephants. Don't show hatred for other animals, but if wolves, tigers and leopards invade their homes, they will be merciless. This is the true meaning of humiliation. If you don't understand the truth, future generations will fall into delusion.
