Dr Simon J. Marshall of San Diego State University, who is in charge of the research, said at a news conference: "Because continuous exercise is at least good for health, a good starting point is to take 1000 steps inward, and then take 0 steps inward." He pointed out that a simple pedometer and a watch can provide a way for pedestrians to ensure that the exercise is strong enough.
These findings are based on 97 healthy adults with an average age of 32. Generally speaking, men need to take 92 to 102 steps to get moderate-intensity exercise for their hearts. On average, women need to walk 9 1 step to 1 15 step per minute. Marshall said: "We think these data support the general suggestion that you should take at least 100 steps on the flat ground to reach the minimum level of the medium-intensity guide."
