Zaozhuang City is located in the hilly area in the south-central part of Shandong Province, which is a part of the Huang-Huai impact plain. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south, high in the east and low in the west, and inclined from northeast to southwest. The mountain in the north of Shanting is 620 meters above sea level, which is the highest point in the city. Zaozhuang city belongs to the mid-latitude warm temperate monsoon continental climate zone, which has the characteristics of warm and humid climate in the south and dry and cold climate in the north. Influenced by natural geographical environment, solar radiation and monsoon, Zaozhuang city has the climate characteristics of good illumination, high accumulated temperature, abundant rainfall and both rain and heat.
The rivers in Zaozhuang belong to the Huaihe River Basin. There are 24 large and small rivers, and the Zaozhuang section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal is a big river, crossing the south of the city, with a total length of 39 kilometers.
