Mangshi is located in the west of Yunnan Province, where Dehong Prefecture is located. According to legend, "mangshi" was named by the Buddha when he arrived here before dawn, meaning "City of Dawn".
Mangshi covers an area of about 10 square kilometer and has 60,000 residents.
