Basic introduction of international weightlifting Federation
International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) is short for International Weightlifting Federation. It was proposed by the French at 1905. 1968 was formerly called the International Weightlifting and Fitness Federation. The International Weightlifting Federation currently has 189 member associations (as of March 25th, 20 13), including 35 in Africa, 45 in Asia, 49 in Europe, 22 in Oceania and 22 in Pan America.

The official languages of UIA are English, French, Spanish, German, Russian and Arabic. The working language is English.

FIBA is a member of the Federation of International Sports Federations. The International Weightlifting Federation follows the Olympic ideals and principles, regards weightlifting as a means to promote world peace and mutual understanding, and opposes any discrimination of political, racial and religious beliefs. Its purpose and task are: to develop weightlifting in the world; Strengthen the friendship and cooperation between national weightlifting associations and athletes, and help national weightlifting associations carry out weightlifting; Manage and coordinate international weightlifting competitions around the world and determine the rules of the competition; Training referees, coordinating and determining the schedule of international competitions and other activities; Approve world records, etc.

FIBA has four special committees: Technical Committee, Scientific Research Committee, Medical Committee and Audit Committee.

UIA's funds come from the membership fees of the association members, the TV broadcasting fees of the competition and the fees paid by the organizers of international competitions.

The organization publishes the Bulletin of the International Federation of Trade Unions for Defence once a month. The contents include the results of international competitions, world championships and international sports games, the articles of association of the competitions, the change of members' addresses, the reports of congresses and meetings, etc.

The events organized by the International Weightlifting Federation are mainly world championships, world youth championships and Olympic weightlifting competitions.

China 1936 joined fiba, 1955 was confirmed by fiba, 1958 withdrew, and 1974 resumed fiba membership.
