Six steps to teach you how to make a mind map with Xmind.
XMind mind map is mainly composed of central theme, branch theme, sub-theme, free theme, outer frame, connection, pictures and other elements.
The first step is to create a new XMind file.
Double-click XMind desktop shortcut to open XMind software, and then click menu file-> Creating a new blank chart will automatically create a central theme. (You can also create it with a blank template, which is more convenient. )
Double-click the theme or select the theme and directly enter the central theme name "Xmind can be seen in one picture".
The central theme is a bit long. We use Shift+Enter to wrap lines where they need to.
Step 2: Add branch topics and sub-topics.
First, we add a branch topic. Use the Enter key to add a branch topic, enter a topic, and then continue to enter to complete the six branch topics.
We can use Shift+Enter to wrap lines, or drag the text box directly to wrap lines.
After adding a branch topic, add a sub-topic below. Choose the branch topic "How to make a mind map?" Use Insert or Tab key to add subtopics, then use Enter key to add subtopics at the same level and enter several other subtopics; Then continue to add all subtitles.
Continue to add the remaining branches. In addition to branching topics and sub-topics, there are also free topics and free topic sub-topics in this map. Let's double-click the background to create a free theme, and use Insert or Tab to continue adding subtopics.
Such a basic mind map is structured.
The third step is to insert additional content of the theme.
Let's take a look at the reference diagram, which involves links, pictures, icons, labels and notes. We can call view operations through commands on the toolbar or by using windows.
Starting from the central theme, select a theme and add a picture: use Ctrl+I or click the picture in the toolbar-> From the file; Or use the clip art that comes with the software. Version 7.5 adds icon search function, you can try to see if there is anything you want;
For the first branch topic, you can use the minus sign after the topic to shrink the sub-topics of other branches.
Add tag: use F3 or click the tag command in the toolbar, and then enter the theme tag;
Add icon: select a theme and add it directly with the icon in the toolbar; Or click on the window->; Icon, bring up the icon view to add or modify. Here are some small pictures of software functions, which can be directly saved by screenshots and added through pictures.
Add Hyperlink: Click the toolbar hyperlink, and then enter the full link address.
Add a comment: Click the toolbar comment to open the comment window and enter the text.
The fourth step is to add a visual relationship between topics.
Increase the priority for different branches; Add borders and abstracts to related topics in the same branch, and add contact lines to related topics in different branches, which makes the relationship between them clearer and clearer, and also facilitates us to find deeper contact points. Reference pictures mainly involve borders, summaries and connections.
Add border: Select a theme and click the border. If the whole branch contains sub-topics, just select the branch topic; If it is a partial sub-topic, you need to select several parent topics. For example, in the basic toolbox, we need to select a theme other than the icon, hold down Ctrl to make a selection, and then click the border.
Supplementary summary: The same is true. Select a theme, and then click Summary in the toolbar.
Add a contact: Click a contact on the toolbar and click two related topics respectively.
The fifth step is to design the map.
After the above four steps, the mind map is basically built, and the next step is beautification. The principle is the same as above, first the central theme, and then branch the theme one by one. The XMind theme format is mainly completed by using the properties of canvas and theme.
Let's take a look at the central theme first, where the theme shape, theme font and fill color are mainly modified. Let's right-click the central theme and select properties, or click Window-> Property.
The lines of the central theme branch are from thick to thin. Right-click the canvas background, call the properties as above, and select Line Gradient from Advanced.
Note: You can choose the rainbow color here, because we don't have the rainbow color below, so we can edit the branch color separately.
Then operate the branch theme, select the first branch theme, and right click->; Property, in which you can modify the line color and fill color.
Continue to modify 2-6, and then start to modify the overall design of the first branch theme. Note that the yellow part has been numbered, and that the beautified structure and the format of the abstract are also completed by choosing to modify the attributes.
Step 6 Export the map or share it with others.
After the tour guide map is completed, check whether there are any other errors such as data and typos, and then export it to the format of pictures or vector maps through the export function under the file menu; You can also share it directly on blogs, emails and evernote.

How to make mind maps Mind maps can be made with mind maps such as curtain, XMind and mindmaster. At present, my most commonly used software is curtain, so I will take curtain as an example to briefly talk about the process of making mind maps.
To do mind mapping, the first thing to be clear is the titles at all levels. The first-level title is equivalent to the first chapter, the second-season title is equivalent to the first section of the first chapter, the third-level title is equivalent to the first point of the first section of the first chapter, and so on.
After defining the titles at all levels, you only need to fill in the contents of each department. Then modify some details, such as font color, bold emphasis, underline and so on. I am generally used to making mind maps in outline mode, reviewing in map mode, printing out maps and drawing sketches on them.
