The Traditional Culture of Yongkang Fangyan
Every year from the first day of August to the Double Ninth Festival in the lunar calendar, people from Yongkang and surrounding cities and counties form arhat classes in the countryside and perform in Fangyan as scheduled. At the climax, forty or fifty people beat the rocks above the Luohan team to worship Gong Hu, and each village showed its unique skills, colorful and spectacular. Some punch and dance sticks and practice eighteen kinds of martial arts; Some people sing and dance while playing. The performances include eighteen butterflies, nine lions, cross lotus, dumb and crazy, thirty-six tricks, nine beads, waist drum and so on. This is a folk entertainment and fitness activity, and it is a grand festival for farmers themselves. Many excellent traditional programs, such as Eighteen Butterflies and Nine Lions, have gone out of rock and roll, gone abroad and become world-class folk art treasures.
