There are many kinds of sheepskin in China, and the main existing varieties are Mongolian sheepskin, Tibetan sheepskin, Kazakh sheepskin, Han sheepskin, Tong sheepskin, Xinjiang fine wool sheepskin, Lake sheepskin, beach sheepskin, Sanbei sheepskin and so on. According to the use and wool characteristics of sheepskin, sheepskin is generally divided into three categories, namely native sheep, improved sheep and hybrid sheep (Hu sheep, Tan sheep and Sanbei sheep are described in a single case because of their unique varieties). This kind of sheepskin has the characteristics of thick hair, loose hair, clear hair and flexible skin. After making fur, it can be made into various fur coats, leather pants, leather gloves, leather shoes and so on. The finished product is insulated and durable. The improved sheepskin is capillary and uniform with small twists and turns. After being made into fur, it can be made into shearing fur, dyed in various colors, imitated otter skin, and made into leather clothes, fur hats, fur collars, leather boards, etc. Hybrid sheepskin includes beach sheepskin, lake sheepskin and Sanbei sheepskin. The quality of these three sheepskins is very different, but their uses are the same as this kind of sheepskin. Sheepskin, which is not suitable for fur, can be used to make leather, called sheepskin. Its leather is delicate, soft and malleable, but it comes loose easily. Sheepskin can often be made into leather clothes, gloves and small leather pieces.

The fur of sheep larvae is called sheep lamb skin, which can be divided into this kind of lamb skin and improved lamb skin. According to the length of hair, it is divided into small hair, medium hair and large hair lamb skin. Short hair and obvious patterns are suitable for leather clothes, fur hats, etc. Those with long hair and uneven thickness can be made into coat lining, leather board and collar.
