Shannan region of Tibet, known as Yalong River in history, is located in the northern part of Himalayas on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the southern part of Gangdise Mountain and Nyainqentanglha Mountain, and in the wide valley in the middle reaches of Yarlung Zangbo River.
