What is ps material?
PS is the abbreviation of a kind of plastic, and its full name in Chinese is polystyrene material, which is a kind of thermoplastic resin.

The English name of this material is polystyrene, its specific gravity is 1.05g/cm3, molding shrinkage is 0.6-0.8%, and its molding temperature is 170-250℃.

PS (polystyrene-based plastics) refers to a kind of plastics with styrene groups on the macromolecular chain, including styrene and its polymers. Specific varieties include general polystyrene (GPPS), high impact polystyrene (HIPS), expandable polystyrene (EPS) and metallocene polystyrene (SPS).

Polystyrene has good fluidity, good processability, easy coloring and good dimensional stability. It can be processed into various parts by injection molding, extrusion molding, blow molding, foaming, thermoforming, bonding, coating, welding, machining and printing, and is especially suitable for injection molding.

Extended data:

Use of ps materials

PS is widely used in optical industry because of its good light transmission. It can be used to make optical glass and optical instruments, as well as transparent or brightly colored glass, such as lampshades and lighting appliances. PS can also make many electrical components and instruments that work in high frequency environment. Because PS plastic is a hard and inert surface material, it needs to be bonded with professional PS glue in industry.

Properties of polystyrene materials

1, mechanical properties

The molecular structure and aggregation state of polystyrene determine that it is a rigid-brittle material, and it shows brittle fracture under stress.

2. Thermal characteristics

The characteristic temperature of polystyrene is about -30℃, the glass transition temperature is 80 ~ 105℃, the melting temperature is 140 ~ 180℃, and the decomposition temperature is above 300℃. Because the mechanical properties of polystyrene decrease obviously with the increase of temperature, the heat resistance is poor, so the continuous use temperature is about 60℃, and the maximum should not exceed 80℃.

3. Electrical performance

Polystyrene has good electrical properties, and its volume resistivity and surface resistivity are as high as1016 ~18 ω cm and1015 ~10 respectively. The tangent value of dielectric loss angle is extremely low, which is not affected by the change of frequency and environmental temperature and humidity. It is an excellent electrical insulating material.
