Born in Edinburgh, England, 14 years old, after graduating from Edinburgh Royal Middle School, he studied at Edinburgh University and University College London, mainly relying on self-study and family education. Acoustics research began in 1864.

Bell is engaged in extensive research. He jointly obtained 18 patents and 12 patents, including telephone, telegraph 14, optical telephone, phonograph 1, airplane, seaplane and selenium photovoltaic cell. However, these patents only represent a part of Bell's invention ability, because his work focuses on basic principles. His rich creative ideas could not be realized at that time, and many of his ideas did not see results until later generations.
