What is the mystery of Maya?
This burial tomb is 9. 14 meters long and 7 meters high. The arched roof is supported by stone pillars, and the surrounding walls are decorated with reliefs, depicting the nine Mayan gods who ruled the night. There is a sarcophagus in the center of the tomb, and the lid is engraved with exquisite relief. This sarcophagus lid actually weighs 5 tons, and it took a lot of effort to move it. I don't know how the Maya at that time moved this extremely heavy sarcophagus into the catacombs. There is a tall human bone in the coffin, covered with a mask inlaid with 200 pieces of jade, surrounded by all kinds of precious jade, amulets and bracelets. There are indications that this pair of human bones is the ruler of palenque in the 7th century-King Pacal.

Strangely, a snake-shaped sticky pipe leads from the sarcophagus to the entrance of the tomb, and then along the stairs to the top of the temple. Some people think that this is because the dead want to connect themselves with the world of the living through this "psychological channel".

The two plaster sculptures found at the foot of the sarcophagus embody all the advantages of Mayan art: the statues are well controlled, the picture is balanced, and the characters are full of majesty in silence, which not only vividly reflects the image of the characters, but also shows the inner strength of the characters' uncontrollable panic, meditation and severity.

The exquisite relief on the sarcophagus is also well preserved, clearly showing a half-lying man, with his upper body leaning forward, his hands outstretched and his eyes staring ahead. People are full of doubts about this image. Some people think that it shows that Pacal falls into the mouth of an underworld monster on his deathbed, while others think that it depicts Pacal descending into the underground world as a fetus. At the same time, a world tree and a god bird grew in his body. Although he sank into the underground world like the sun went down, judging from the images depicted on both sides of the sarcophagus, he is about to enter the next cycle of life and death.

However, there is a more bizarre explanation. In the 1960s, it was once thought that the people carved on the sarcophagus were wearing tights, and the arcs and pipes on their heads were devices similar to antennas. The reason why his posture is so strange is that he is manipulating some instrument that people still can't know. The front of his "car" is very sharp, and the back is a rapid jet of flame, which shows that he is sitting in a spaceship and flying into space.

The mysterious Maya left us with too many unsolved mysteries.
