Tibetan Buddhism believes that reciting the six-character mantra can eliminate the fear of disease, punishment and premature death, increase life expectancy and enrich wealth. Therefore, in Tibetan areas, people can often see the scene of shaking the prayer drum and reciting the "six-character mantra".
Chinese character transliteration is "om (not ng) ma (mā) ni (nρ) ba (bē i) mi (mē i) bang (hò ng)". This is the most revered spell in Tibetan Buddhism. Tantric believes that this is the basic mantra of Tantric Lotus Department, that is, the mantra of Guanyin in Lotus Department, so it is called the six-character mantra. Sanskrit or Tibetan letters (temples in Mongolia also use Basiba characters) are often used for writing, painting and carving on eaves, ceilings, doorframes, large and small religious instruments, rocks and building slates.
