It is reported that the first pump backswing engine in this test is based on the 120 ton liquid oxygen kerosene high-pressure afterburner engine, and the pump backswing technology of liquid rocket engine is effectively verified through local adjustment. The engine adopts a variety of newly developed components, especially the high-pressure swing hose with flexible connection of multi-layer bellows, which has withstood the multiple tests of high-temperature and high-pressure oxygen-enriched gas discharged by turbopump, and is free to move during the test and reliable in structure.
Liu Zhirang, dean of the Sixth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, said that the swing device was put back by pump swing technology, which not only realized the change of thrust vector with minimum swing, but also made the engine structure more compact and the overall configuration of the rocket more optimized. More importantly, it clears the way for the development of heavy-duty launch vehicle engines, plays the role of "slimming and strengthening the body" and lays a solid foundation for the development of liquid rocket engines with greater thrust.
It is understood that the first demonstration of the pump back swing engine began in June of 20 15, and the design work was basically completed in June of the following year. In April, 20 17, the parts production entered the final assembly, and all the assembly work was completed in May, 20 17. Before the test run, the researchers conducted a comprehensive inspection of the engine, improved a number of test systems in the engine test area, and completed many cold pendulum tests and comprehensive tests to ensure that the first test run was fully prepared, safe and reliable.
