If Windows XP is installed on the laptop you are using, if you pay a little attention when processing documents, you will find that the edges of words and fonts on the screen are uneven and annoying. So how to solve this problem? In fact, Microsoft has set ClearType anti-aliasing function for WindwoXP. You can solve the above problems well by turning on this function.
How to open the ClearType function:
(1) Select Start/Control Panel/Display;
(2) In the Display Properties dialog box, select the Appearance tab, and then click the Effect button. In the Effects dialog box, you can turn the ClearType feature on or off.
If you are already using XP and want to see the effect of ClearType first, you can turn on the magnifying glass function in XP, and then slide the cursor over some text to test the effect.
Second, how to open NetBEUI communication protocol in Windows XP?
NetBEUI communication protocol should be the product of Windows 95/98 era. If some machines in your company are upgraded to Windows XP, you will find that NetBEUI communication protocol has disappeared in Windows XP. However, in some LANs, due to the initial network planning, NetBEUI is needed to access some or all computers in the network. Is it necessary to go back to the Windows98 era? At this time, you don't have to worry. NetBEUI is still on the Windows XP CD, but there is no preset protocol. If you need this communication protocol, you must * install it yourself.
Setting method:
(1) put it into the Windows XP installation CD, and copy Netnbf.inf to C: Windows INF in the "ValueaddMsft et etbeui" directory;
(2) copy Nbf.sys to c: windows system 32 drivers;
(3) Press "Start/Control Panel/Network Neighborhood", select "Network Connection", right-click "Local Connection" (that is, the connection you are currently using), and select the content;
(4) In the "General" item, select "Installation", select "Communication Protocol" and press "Add". At this point, you can see the NetBEUI Protocol project (this project is not available). After selecting NetBEUI, click OK.
Third, let Windows XP quickly shut down and restart.
It is very slow for Windows XP operating system to save the current settings when it is shut down or restarted. In fact, you can try to bypass the save settings screen and quickly shut down or restart.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the window task manager, click the "Shutdown" command, hold down the "Ctrl" key in the pop-up menu, and click the "Shutdown" or "Restart" command to skip the screen of saving settings and realize instant shutdown or restart.
However, using this closing method, you will not be prompted to save the file or close the window again. Do not use this method if you still have unsaved files.
Fourth, batch conversion of image formats.
In Windows XP, if there is no better conversion program, we can convert an image file in BMP format into an image in JPG format through a drawing program. However, the conversion efficiency is very low, and only one image file can be converted at a time. In fact, there is another method of batch conversion.
First, copy the BMP pictures that need to be converted to the "Picture Collection" folder, then select these picture files, click the right mouse button, and select the "Send to/Mail Recipient" command in the shortcut menu that pops up. Next, a window "Send photos by email" will pop up. Select the "Reduce all photos" option in this window, select the size of the photos, and then click the "OK" button. Next, Windows XP will convert these images in BMP format to a smaller JPG format, and a "Send Email" window will pop up. Finally, just save these image attachments in JPG format.
5. Encrypted files (folders)
It is true that files (folders) can be encrypted directly in Windows XP, but there is a premise: the hard disk partition where the files (folders) to be encrypted are in NFTS format. If not, it can be converted into NFTS before operation.
Select the file (folder) to be encrypted, right-click and select the "Properties" command in the pop-up menu. In the pop-up window, select the "Advanced" button to open the "Advanced Properties" dialog box, select the "Encrypt content to protect data" option, and then click "OK" to start. It should be noted that if the file (folder) is encrypted by the above method, it is best to decrypt it before reinstalling the system in the future (the decryption method is similar to encryption, except that the option of "encrypting content to protect data" is removed). Otherwise, after reinstalling the system, files (folders) may not be opened normally.
Six, cancel the waiting time before disk scanning
When using Windows XP, if you encounter unexpected situations such as power failure and crash, Windows XP will automatically scan the disk after restarting the computer. Before the disk scan, the system will give you a countdown time of 10 second for you to choose whether to skip the disk scan. You can also cancel the countdown before disk scanning if you don't want it. Select "Start/All Programs/Accessories/Command Prompt", in the command prompt window, press "CHKNTFS /T:0" and press enter to change the countdown time before automatically scanning the disk to 0 seconds.
Seven, Windows XP is easy to lose weight.
1. Delete file backup
Enter the "Windows\System32\dllcache" directory (hidden directory by default), which stores about 360MB files, which are backups of Windows XP system files. When the system files of Windows XP are replaced, deleted or modified, the system can automatically extract the corresponding system files, thus ensuring the stability of the system. If you have a Windows XP installation CD or have copied the installation files to your hard disk, you can delete the folder.
Note: This folder cannot be deleted directly. You need to enter "sfc.exe/Purge Cache" (space before slash) at the command prompt to delete it.
2. Delete the driver backup
Windows XP comes with a large number of hardware drivers. When new hardware is detected, the system will automatically extract the corresponding driver for installation. In fact, in most cases, we rarely change our hardware configuration, so we can delete the driver backup file when we are sure that all the required hardware drivers have been installed. Enter the "Windows\DriverCache\i386" directory, find the compressed file named "Driver.cab" and delete it. This will free up about 73MB of hard disk space. If the system can't find the driver when installing new hardware in the future, it can be extracted from the installation CD.
3. Delete the unused input method
There are several input methods that we basically don't need under Windows XP, such as Japanese and Korean input methods. The method of deletion is: enter the control panel \ Date, Time, Language and Regional Settings \ Regional and Language Selection, select the language tab, remove the check box in front of "East Asian Language Installation File", click OK, and then delete the unnecessary language options according to the prompts. After restarting, directly delete the three folders "chtime", "imju8_ 1" and "imk6_ 1" (corresponding to traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean respectively) under the "Windows\ime" folder, which can free up 85MB of hard disk space.
4, empty the system temporary files
In the directory "\ documents and settings \ user name \ local settings \ temp" (hidden directory by default), temporary folders and discarded documents left by software installation are stored, which can release hundreds of megabytes of hard disk space. This method can be used frequently.
Eight, to prevent the taskbar "suspended animation"
The phenomenon of "fake death" in the taskbar is quite common in Windows XP. In addition to installing the official Microsoft patch to solve this problem, you can also turn off the advanced text service to prevent the phenomenon of "fake death" in the taskbar (because enabling the advanced text service will consume a lot of system resources and may conflict with some software, such as handwriting recognition and Chinese keyboard input). The specific method is as follows:
Open the Regional and Language Options window, select the Language tab, and then click the Details button to open the Text Service and Input Language window. Then, click the Language Bar button. In the pop-up window, directly select the option of "Close Advanced Text Service" and click the "OK" button to open the confirmation window. Click "Yes" button to disable the advanced text service, and finally click "OK" to exit.
Nine, delete the redundant administrator account
In Windows XP, there are usually multiple administrator accounts. In addition to the built-in administrator account created by the system itself, there are other administrator accounts. To make the system more secure, you can delete unnecessary administrator accounts.
The first thing to understand is that the administrator account to be deleted must be a user with administrator status, so you should choose the built-in "administrator" account to log in. When the Windows XP login window appears, enter "Administrator" in the user name, and then enter the password to log in.
Tip: The "Administrator" account will only appear when there is no other account except the guest account or when you log in to the computer in safe mode, so you can log in by directly entering "Administrator" in the user name.
1, user account method
In Windows XP, open Control Panel and double-click User Accounts in Classic view. In the window that opens, click the name of the administrator account that you want to delete. In the user account change window that appears, click Delete Account, and then you will be asked to choose whether to keep the files of the administrator account. Click the Save File button to save the files of the administrator account, such as desktop, my documents, favorites, etc. Click the "Delete File" button, and a confirmation window for deleting the account will appear below. Click the Delete Account button to delete the administrator account.
Tip: This skill can only be realized after creating two or more administrator accounts other than the "Administrator" account.
2. Local users and grouping methods
Type "lusrmgr.msc" in "Start \ Run" to open the "Local Users and Groups" window, right-click an administrator account, select the "Delete" command, and click the "Yes" button in the pop-up deletion confirmation window to finish deleting the administrator account.
Tip: This technique can be applied to cases where there is only one or more administrator accounts besides the "Administrator" account.
X. let the Windows XP taskbar display the current date.
Windows XP taskbar can display not only the time, but also the current date, but if you just installed Windows XP, you will find that the taskbar still only displays the time as before. So how do you display the date? In fact, as long as you drag the taskbar width to two lines, the current date and week will be displayed. However, this is not always effective. If the current date is set to * * *-* * format (for example, 2003- 12-3 1), no matter how wide you drag the taskbar, only the time and week will be displayed, but not the date. At this time, if you want to display the date, please open the control panel, select Regional and Language Settings, click the Customize button in Regional Settings, change the time format in the time property page to tt h:mm:ss or tt hh:mm:ss (the default is h:mm:ss), and then check your taskbar.
