Buddhist question and answer 98. Can I use a picture of a bodhisattva or a picture of a director as a computer screen saver or avatar?

Q 098: Sorry, I like the Guanyin statue in Kannonji. Can you use the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva as a computer screen or your own chat avatar?

Answer 098:

It is even more disrespectful to display pictures or photos of Bodhisattva in flashing form as a screen saver. Bodhisattva statues are meant to solemnly offer sacrifices and cannot be used in this form of games.

All kinds of pictures on the computer exist in virtual form, so the pictures of Bodhisattva can't really be opened in the computer, inviting Bodhisattva to enter. The same is true of photos.

Moreover, this virtual form of pictures, constantly flashing, is easy to arouse spirituality.

In addition, it is disrespectful to browse and read some unhealthy things on the computer every day, or store any bad content in the computer, and treat bodhisattva and photos as screen savers and avatars.

Photos of Bodhisattva in the computer can be printed in color, sealed with plastic or framed. Please bless your Guanyin Bodhisattva into a worshiped treasure image according to the teaching method, and then worship it well. See Metaphysics Q&A 93 on Buddha and Bodhisattva Worship for details.
