Woyunpu Village is surrounded by mountains. To the north of Woyunpu village is an east-west mountain range. The mountains are continuous, and the highest peak is about 840 meters above sea level. There is a relic of the Great Wall at the top of the mountain, which is more than 400 years earlier than Qin Changcheng. Woyunpu village is built on the mountain, with high terrain and misty all the year round. People lie in bed just like sleeping on clouds, so it is named Sleeping Cloud Shop.
Legend has it that during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, a stonemason fled from Hebei, where the drought was severe, and built a stone house to rest here. Later, Liu, Zhang, Li and other families came here to take refuge, and more and more stone houses were built, eventually forming the present Woyunpu village.
Most of the houses in the village are piled with stones, mostly two-story buildings, which are quite distinctive. Even dog kennels and chicken coops are made of stone, and so are daily utensils. Walking into Woyunpu Village is like walking into a stone castle. The mountainous terrain is complex. In order to facilitate the passage of residents and the transportation of materials, many street corners have been flattened to increase the corner space and facilitate the passage and transportation, hence the idiom "beating around the bush".
There are more than 200 stone houses and many stone tablets in the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the village. Four stone tablets are well preserved, and the representative stone tablet is the "gambling tablet". The stone tablet recorded the early village rules and regulations of Woyunpu village, which effectively curbed the social atmosphere at that time. Wang Jia Courtyard and Yan Jia Courtyard in stone houses in Ming and Qing Dynasties are representative residential buildings. The layout of the courtyard is unified, with one surname and one hospital. There is a stone spring, a stone well and a stone mill in the yard.
The Wangs were the first family to settle in Woyunpu at that time, and there was a deer carved on the cornice, which meant to remember to look back no matter how far away from home. Yanjia Courtyard is a courtyard built by Yanshi clan, which is called Courtyard. It has a history of more than 200 years. It's a two-story building, with poultry on the first floor and residence on the second floor.
There are two ancient trees in Woyunpu, one is a century-old catalpa tree. It is one of the precious tree species in China, known as the northern redwood, and has high economic value. In ancient times, it was used as the legacy of future generations. This is the only catalpa tree in Woyunpu. The other is an ancient pagoda tree with the same root and different stems. It is said that it is the embodiment of a couple in trouble, snuggling up to each other, symbolizing the beautiful wish of eternal knot.
Lying 3 kilometers northwest of Woyunpu is the highest peak nearby, named Thunderbolt Point. At the top of the mountain is the beacon tower of the Great Wall of Qi, which is said to be the sacred platform of Jiang Ziya. On the west side of the thunderbolt tip is a group of natural strange rocks, which are very distinctive, like the old lady who sent Liulang to war with a stick.
There are many crops in Woyunpu village, among which Jiashan white corn is the most prominent, as well as wild yam, air-dried persimmon, mountain spring tofu and other special agricultural products, which taste mellow. Red Toona sinensis is a local specialty and enjoys a high reputation. It's about 50 kilometers away from Jinan, so it's better to take a trip to Stone Castle on weekends and holidays, and it's not bad to experience the farmhouse music here!
