Jiefang Road, with a long history, contains profound historical and cultural connotations, among which Jiefang Middle Road used to be called "Four Pailou", which is also the emotional memory of Laoguang people.
It is mentioned in Guangzhou Yuexiu Ancient Streets that in the 13th year of Jiajing, Guangdong Governor Dai Jing chose Ai Hui Street, where the Governor's Office is located, and built four wooden archways, namely Ai Hui Square, Zhongxian Square, Xiaoyou Square and Zhenlie Square. These four archways are distributed around the section of Zhongshan Sixth Road between Jiefang Middle Road and Chaotian Road.
