The Association of Machine Health Care and Condition Monitoring was established in Britain in the early 1970s. By the early 1980s, a lot of work had been done in developing and popularizing equipment diagnosis technology, which played a positive role in promoting it. Watson Industrial Maintenance Company founded by Manchester University and Friction and Wear Research Center of Swansea University are well-known in the research of diagnostic technology. In nuclear power generation, the British Atomic Energy Institute uses noise analysis to monitor the furnace body, as well as nondestructive testing of boilers, pressure vessels and pipelines, which plays the role of the British fault data center. At present, Britain is still in a leading position in the monitoring and diagnosis of friction and wear, automobile and aircraft engines.
